Mel Oliveira Don't know Portuguese sorry but he talks about being a normal kid at the public school and he wants people to treat him as such. He says that on the bridge stuntmen were acting when they did the side shots as it was too dangerous to have kids on the bridge. He said when he was running in front of the train it was special effects that made him look closer than he really was otherwise it would have been dangerous too.

Parental Guardian Yes, only you never expect a young man person with their entire life ahead of them to suddenly pass away. I remember the night he died and how they played the phone call of his younger brother Leaf calling for help over and over again. I really felt for Leaf and the entire Phoenix family at the time.

Fox Teen - I found out through having kids and observing their schoolmates that this is quite common. The boys seem to chubb out around 11 and a couple years later they start growing like weeds and lose the baby fat. Jerry is such a cutie.

Met him once in NYC not too long after Stand By Me came out. (He’s the same age as me). He was humble and friendly. My sister also met him as an adult a couple of years ago and said he couldn’t have been nicer. This video is not an act. Hollywood did not change him. Just an all-around good guy.

He seems to be pretty grounded! Going to public school instead of private, plus he seems to accept that he's a normal kids who happened to make a movie and then go back to school, etc. I'm sure judging by his manners and attitude that his family doesn't treat him like a star or tolerate rude behavior. He's so sweet, kind, polite and appears happy!

What do you mean kids aren't like that anymore, there isn't that much of a difference between kids from the 80's, and kids from today, kids in the 80's were disrespectful just as much as today, it's just hot worse today, people started acting cool in the 50's (greasers) the 60's got worse (hippies), in the 40's and back the youger generation was respectful, but I would agree that more parents supported the school system back in the 80's than what they do today, but we need our cojntry to be like

lol but you spend long enough in an abnormal environment (entertainment) - you will become abnormal. River Phoenix died from a drug overdose at a Hollywood club. Corey Feldman was a drug addict within a couple of years of SBM, was sexually molested by multiple men in the entertainment industry. Wil Wheaton - think he got off scott free? Nope - that Hollywood environment changed him into a selfish egotistical asshole who had no desire to emotionally connect with anyone - by his own admission. And here we have the one kid - who stayed out of the industry for the rest of his childhood. That’s how he stayed normal.
