we did the yard husband mowed since age 10, me since age 14, retirement-we now employ the younger people like when we were younger, we just don't want to do the yard anymore so this is a nice treat and we hire out and that is okay and the younger people appreciate that we hire them

Great show this week. I planted 3 cactus pads 3 years ago and it is now 3 times the size of yours. And I have trimmed at least 100 pads off of it. Must be the Sandy soil. Loved Gizmo’s jokes this week. Hope he feels better soon.

Not a cactus expert but a local Florida resident told me that the cactus Linda was giving away is an invasive plant in Florida. The state parks have this in, and the state pays to have them removed.

Regarding cost of living in The Villages, I have heard & read several accounts of large increases (30, 40 50%) in homeowners insurance premiums at renewal time this year. This is happening in many parts of Florida, just not in The Villages. On the plus side, there is no state income tax in Florida. Here in Illinois where I live, the state income tax rate is 4.95%.

I don't mow the yard because I'm retired, and I mowed for about 40 years already. I pay $60 per month for perfect yard. In Illinois, I mowed a much bigger yard because it would have cost me about $80 per week! So I happily pay the guys per month and I don't have store a lawn mower, Chain saw, Gas, Gas and oil, a Weed Wacker, a blower, an edger, a garden rake, a spring rake, shovels etc. I don't need a shed and my garage looks great. And not mowing and all that stuff gives me time to do whatever I WANT to to do. Which is a great retirement!

I do my lawn service because it my only source of exercise, at Lowe’s a 16” electric mower it fits under my workbench, a electric edger, bush trimmer, and a blower all small and electric and the do a great job. There are racks and selves in my garage the fit good. I personally don’t like electric objects I am amazed how good they do.

As we are moving into a new home south of 44, I hope that one day y’all come see us. I am making a trip to Huber’s to get the sharp cheddar cheese. Closing on home next Monday and will put the cheese in the fridge. It may be a while before we can meet you but Gismo will love my wife. She is a retired kennel manager and vet technician from the Louisville Police Department. She is known locally as the “dog whipper”. Most of the people that know her will call her before taking their fur babies to the vet.

Great show. We just returned from the eastern Florida Cocoa Beach area. Yes very hot and rainy this week. Mainly there to visit the MIL. Maybe we should take the MIL on a lifestyle visit to the villages. She might really enjoy it. Do they offer golf carts for three?

Jerry, I had a similar skin treatment last October. It was torturous. I’ll spare you the details. Anyway, interesting approach when stepping out daytime or night- when I took my black Lab out, she would always pause(not paws 😂) upon exiting the house and immediately scan the yard. And then would proceed. Pets know when leaving their safe space and entering the wild kingdom, or that Jumanji Preserve called The Villages, to pause-sniff-look around- safety first.

These "elderly" people here are in great shape and it's a challenge keeping up with them. Them........what am I saying? I forgot, I fall in that elderly age catagory myself, but don't feel like I am! 🤣🤣 I live between the 6's in Buttonwood and I love this area but in my opinion every area has it's own charm and each one is different. I can just imagine how an above ground pool would survive in hurricane weather and I agree with Linda they would probably be considered yard art. To put a finer point on it...the actual current medical definition of "old age" is indeed 65+. However, as is quite evident by observing those who are 65+, lumping everyone 65+ into one category isn't right either. Thus, in medicine there is what's called the "young old", ages 65-75. The "middle old", ages 75-85. And the "old old", ages 85+.

I don’t know Jerry but I’ve seen your golf swing it looks good to me. I know you are very busy when I lived here in 2011-12 I was starting to struggle with my golf game to a 1 hour lesson from Arnold Palmer course at time I was a 12 handicap that lesson drop me to a 8 handicap that’s when I was 64 now at 74 and a bad back that handicap is gone
