Holy cow... I knew there was some insane places up there but did NOT know about Fish Lake and the fall color. That's beautiful. Glad to see you made it to the Wedge and the drive around. Amazing place, isn't it? Feels like there's something to see every couple miles. And camping there is still high on our list. I can't imagine waking up to that view. Finally got a San Rafael comment, so I know what you mean. San Rafael is amazing. We actually ended up at Fish Lake because it was raining and we couldn't do one of the hikes we'd planned in the Swell. The fall colors was just good luck. We will definitely be back to both areas.

The colors at Fish Creek were unbelievable. Ended up there just because it rained and we couldn't do slot canyons out in the Swell. Tina usually does the hands on the hips when she's tired. This time it was because this was supposed to be a driving/hanging out day, not a hiking day. Still worth it.

Love Utah in the fall! The low light and moody skies make all the colours pop. Although the fall weather can be (somewhat) unpredictable, it usually rolls through fairly quickly and often gives you unexpected treats if you are happy to adapt to the situation--like instant waterfalls!

Great video! Awesome to see my "home county" in full fall display. Next time you're in Sevier County, go to Richfield (my hometown) and grab a sandwich and ice cream from the Ideal Dairy. We like to pack the sandwich for our hike (usually in Capitol Reef). I've seen a lot of fall trees and nothing compares to the colors you find at Fishlake.

Fish Lake was pretty empty, which was surprising. The Wedge was almost full along the top. Buckhorn Draw Road (the one we took down from the overlook) had a lot of spots off to the side and a full fledged campground at the bottom as alternatives. All the roads we took on this trip were fine for a camper van. Highly recommend the Wedge and Buckhorn Draw. I have to explore a lot more around the Swell, but I've been to a lot of amazing spots nearby in the area between Capitol Reef and Hanksville. You could play around out there for years.

We use Gaia gps on iPhone. It's very intuitive and has a ton of different map layers. It's got it's quirks, but it's gotten us through for years. We also have a Garmin Mini that has GPS capability, but never really needed to use it because Gaia works better. I'm hoping to catch this area as you did. I'll be staying this November in Bucknell for 6 nights and this is area is on my top 3 list to cover. I'm glad it rained on you and let me see this area as I may have very well missed it. Keep up the fantastic work and thanks for letting us all in on your travels. Angel of Death and Moon Scape are the priorities, and this is right behind them. I'll be there November 6-12, with the 5 days b before that in Zion. What other thing...can you recall if you entered the driving section of the swell from the north and worked your south or from the south to the north? That would be very helpful to me. Thanks!

You're gonna love it. This is one of my favorite areas. We came into the Wedge from the south, driving up from the Capitol Reef direction. We went out down a really scenic road from the Wedge - I think it's Buckhorn Draw or something like that. Also worth checking out Long Dong Silver (by Angel of Death), Bentonite Hills (outside Capitol Reef), Mars Research Station and Factory Butte. Plus a bunch of other stuff, but I'm sure you've got plenty on the list.

@@JerryArizona thanks so much for the reply. I’m actually going to do many of what you pointed out. Long Dong Silver is a must, moonscape overlook, Factory Butte, and a hike up Cainville Butte is in the agenda.
