Maybe also good to let the new PC gamers know they can upgrade their system bit by bit. Like any gaming pc, you can upgrade as you go. You could maybe do examples of upgrades , cpu only, gpu only, and performance results, all on a budget type of scenario. Just my 2 cents ( no pun intended.)

Easiest way to deal with drivers is to get the NVidia or AMD program. NVidia has the GeForce Experience software that will prompt you whenever there's a new driver and will optimize settings based on your system specs. That said, some games like to override the optimized settings. I know AMD has a similar program but I don't know what it's called.

Frank 150 not at all, the gpu is pretty bad. The absolute lowest gpu you should go is a 660 ti. But you should save for a 1050

Frank 150 I would save up for at least a 1060 3gb it’s not too expensive and it can run most likely any game. I have a very shitty cpu and I can still play gta v on max settings at 60fps so I would recommend a 1060 3gb if your going for cheap. And cpu again if your going for cheap go with a intel i3 8100 but if you want more bang for your buck and save up a little and get a i5. I would recommend r/buildapc on reddit and ask questions on there any questions you have will be answered very quickly.

Frank 150 DO NOT GET A GTX 650, it will not be able to run large games very well, you will need at least a 1050 to have a good FPS...also get 16GB of RAM, 8GB is ok but it would be better with the 16GB, everything else is pretty much fine, I mean an I7 is preferable but it isn’t a NEED, I5 still works fine with large games.

As a new pc gamer that just switched from consoles (literally 2 weeks ago lol). I did a budget build around $480 RX570 8gb, 8GB Ram 2667 (2x4), Ryzen 5 3.2Ghz, Gigabyte 320 Mobo, 280gb SSD, 680w PSU, new case too. So far, I'm in love simply to the fact of how smooth the games run. I'm also transitioning from controller to mouse/keyboard for shooters only. well here are my tips for people even tho nobody asked 1. most people want a lot of FPS. while the FPS is important, you also need to worry about ping and network connectivity. 2. when you buy a pc, make sure it has a good processor, and graphics card. (some may have a good graphics card but a trash processor or the other way around) 3. if you go to apps, you can disable most of the ones in the background. this will help A LOT with pc gaming. 3.5. there is another part of apps that lets you pick the apps that you want your pc to give the most amount of effort, so find the apps that you want to use for gaming the most and select them. that’s all i’m sorry for this trash but yea have a good day

Games purchased on Steam are digital. You don't receive any physical items. As soon as the purchase goes through, the game will be permanently tied to your Steam account and you can begin downloading it. Since the games are tied to your account and not your PC, you can download your games again free of charge on a different PC. You can start Steam in Offline mode and it will let you run games, but some games may not work well even if you just want to play an offline portion of the game.

A gaming desktop is much better than a gaming laptop the majority of time. The only advantage a laptop has is that it is portable. The issue with gaming laptops is that they usually have very few upgrade options. So if in some years you want a better CPU or better graphics card, you can't upgrade them. You have to buy another laptop. Gaming laptops tend to be loud, bulky, heavy, have poor battery life and run hot. Heat is a big problem for laptops in general since the components are all crammed together. So unless portability is a very high priority, you're better off buying a gaming desktop as opposed to a gaming laptop.

Use GeForce experience to keep up with drivers more easily. So many pc gamers I’ve talked to didn’t even know. Use version 2 Xbox or PS4 controllers and use Bluetooth if you have Bluetooth. You can use Xbox and PS4 headphones if you have controller hooked up via usb. Haven’t gotten the Xbox keypad to function but I’m sure there is a way. I’m going to be hated but I use controller for everything. Even fps. I haven’t used keyboard and mouse since late 90’s early 00’s. It works, I like it, and pc gaming is meant for those that want options and be diverse. You can do you in pc gaming. Those that ridicule can bugger off.

Use Steam...almost anything is Digital now. Depends on the Individual if he or she wants the Hard Copy. Performance is also key, but all that depends on the Configuration of the System(s)

No idea how people get into pc gaming. It's uncomfortable to sit and play for hours on end. Keyboard is a nightmare for controls. And to run games at high graphics you need to spend thousands of dollars. Spend 1,600 on mine and it cant run max settings. And in most cases games on my xbox one x look better. This may be my desk setup but using keyboard cramps my wrist after a couple hours of playing. So I can only play short sessions. Also on pc you run into cheaters and tryhards. So far I've had a pretty shitty experience. Not happy with it at all.

Your kidding me right? If you spent 1600 on a pc without it being capable of running at max settings then you have done something completely wrong. Keyboard is better than controller, especially for the games that I play (Rpgs such as divinity 2 and diablo 3). And fps on controller is a nightmare. If you are getting wrist cramps then it is either your setup, or the fact that you are just not used to keyboard. You run into cheaters and tryhard on console too.... Ya I honestly do not understand any of your complaints. You should really also take a look at what the hell you spent your money on to make your $1600 pc worse than a $400 xbox. I have a pc around that price point, and I can max every game out and have it looking amazing. Maybe it's your monitor?

Couldve used the 1600 and built one that woulda prob been better than a manufactured build. Also tryhards /cheaters on every playform you just run in to them more frequently on pc than modt not constantly but every once in a while. And thousands of dollars isnt required at all i feel like u just went into the store asked for gaming pcs and which ever looked the coolest you just bought. But thats just my guess. Enjoy your new xbox though im sure it can compete with pc

@ there’s plenty of vids of how to build one you should try and build one instead, you can usually get better performance by building one pre built pcs tend to be underpowered and overpriced you’d get your money’s worth by building one

Its funny you say a controller wont have a chance on a fps game. Not many people know this but you can eliminate deadzone with causing drift. I have always played with a controller so I had to find a way to make it work effectively

I know this video is three years old now, but the "always download the newest drivers for your video card" thing isn't always true. If you have the absolute newest video card from Nvidia or AMD (I still want to write "ATI"), then sure, do that; however, if your card is a little older, you won't usually see any benefits to downloading the newest drivers and sometimes you can actually lose performance. You'll need to do research and find out which drivers are the best for your generation of video card.

I use Gamestop just because I have history/points/credit with them because of my counsel days but I mainly use it when I want to get a limited edition. I would probably use Amazon but for those midnight releases I would like to get my game early as possible.

A lot of people like going to Gamestop. To those people i say that you can get really good deals on Steam. During end of the year sale events, i paid as low as 7 dollars for triple a games. And you never need to worry about supply issues ether.
