One major flaw exponentially spreading out in the last hours Is related to the position of SD card reader, placed near a huge heat source and under the heatpipe/fan assembly. Please be careful and don't let stock fan curves, and avoid playing too much in turbo mode with high temperatures... Considering returning my unit tho, just search rog ally SD card failure to figure out the problem.. sad design choice for this component.. beside that as usual great video and sad because I love my ally so far

@jonservo Жыл бұрын
@@mechanicalmonk2020 a company is supposed to find these issues out before they start selling a product. Granted, there will always be a few units with a defect here and there, but the Ally has issues that are occurring in many peoples devices. The people that support your business really shouldn't be treated like beta testers unless that arrangement is made clear at the beginning. If Asus had made the ally available with the caveat that it would be to test for problems and those that bought one would get it at reduced price and have it fixed if there are issues then I would say everyone should get one. The problem is so many companies now are releasing stuff with problems that should have been caught in the quality control phase but it's being released anyway. We have been acclimated to accept this but it's not fair to those that do buy into a product. It's common practice now all over but that doesn't mean it's right. I think if more people had a wait and see attitude for things like this more companies would put effort into making sure it came out right and it would grow by word of mouth from satisfied customers

Don't hold your breath waiting for an update from Asus to address the heat issue; they're not just known for not fixing bugs, they rarely acknowledge they even exist. I stopped buying anything Asus years ago, as every product I've owned had problems. Sometimes they were minor and due to lazy design and execution on hardware, but sometimes they were product ruining and included major bios bugs on motherboards that were ignored and never addressed. I feel bad for the 7 series Ryzen motherboard owners who had their expensive CPUs destroyed by Asus' negligence in voltage settings. Hopefully they'll see that Asus was more concerned with trying to cover it up than making it right for their customers and take that lesson to heart. Garbage company imo.

It is both one of the best and worst looking handhelds from a daily driver standpoint that I have seen... Amazing performance, stylish... and most importantly, not complete e-waste if they decide to sell parts. But it's as hot as an early 2000s laptop running windows 10, and the buttons need a slight redesign.

I'm a bit sceptical of the company overall, I hope they can salvage their reputation recent motherboard situation and all

@@TriflingToadWhen first heard of the ally i was reluctant to buy so I gave it a few months but now from what I'm seeing from ally users, looks like the issues have been rectified so i finally bought one and ugh the build quality is worse than the steam deck and the battery life is so short but the performance though is very good

Excellent video as always, i have had my ROG for over a week now and i love it. It does take a bit of fiddling with to get it just right.

Hopefully a software update will fix those buttons sticking 😄 PS: Red motherboards ☹️👎

I think all devices should come with spare parts, especially when these spare parts cost a few cents at most in production.

Asus spent more budget on the RGB lighting / looking , but forgot heat & high power usage My Asus B650 Mobo already over-voltage my CPU from 1.25v to 1.4v (Ryzen 7700x) Asus always goes for over-voltaging - OC their hardware, either it's Mobo, GPU, Handheld..whatever they make Probebly gonna wait for Steam deck 2 in 2024 (cheaper, powerful, built better..etc)

It kinda hurts how jerry roast the mobile ROG series as an fanboy. But those test are very important to know the limits of ur device and how careful you have to be. Tumbs up for that! xD
