@revolutionsbytylerJ4 жыл бұрын
These replacement models, which Samsung purportedly classified as being safe, had a prominent marking on their packaging to distinguish them from the first wave of recalled units, and render all software battery indicators with green icons. Samsung was granted special permission by Google to allow this change, as it would normally violate the requirements of the Android Compatibility Definition Document (which must be met to license Google Mobile Services software and Android trademarks) for all status bar icons to only be rendered in white.

Interesting video and great explanation, well done. I was involved in lithium battery manufacturing myself for quite a few years and Samsungs reasons are correct. I've seen it before. As regards losses, Samsung did quantify their losses from Note7 in their final quarter accounts which ironically was their most profitable since 2013, and losses from the Note was $5.2 billion. So we can put the wild speculation behind us. Still a lot of money but nowwhere near $17 billion.

I think a Note 7 with the battery taken out would make for quite a collector's item, no? That's probably the reason the 4% still haven't sent their Note 7s back. They replaced, recalled, shipped all the units, apologized globally and released the details of their own investigation, the only thing left for them to do is to come up with a Note 8 that will reclaim their customers' satisfaction & their own reputation in the mobile market Thank you very much Jerry for all the details, you've been very informative and detailed through this whole roller coaster Keep on undressing them phones :D

I've just gotten rid of my note 4, it was less that a year old, due to battery issues and it's getting so hot it melted the plastic backing. i love Samsung, but the safety of their batteries worried me too much to purchase again.

Javian Brown every Samsung phone I've had has had overheating issues, and that's with me regularly buying new batteries. To hear they're exploding is the last straw, they need to sort their battery issues out.
@penguinsjd7 жыл бұрын
Yuk Foo I only use Samsung chargers dispite them being pretty expensive. I even wrap them in harder wire to protect them a little more and stop pets from getting to them. Its not cause I'm using cheap chargers or batteries or portable chargers, it's cause Samsung aren't building their products to last, even with the heavy amount I use my phone (I do all work through it) I need a phone to last more than a year for that price. I've had 4 Samsung phones and none have lasted as long as they should. I just bought the huawei mate 9 and it's so much better, battery lasts twice as long, the chord it good quality, you can't change the battery out easily but you would never need to, oh and it's like £150 cheaper with a 2 year guarantee. At this point, there isn't much reason to buy from Samsung and risk getting something dangerous when you could get a better product, for cheaper, from a smaller company.

I wonder if this will convince them to give us removable batteries again. If the Note 7 had replaceable batteries, they could've just shipped off everyone a brand new one, without losing out on the entire cost of the phone :p Either way, 10 years from now people are gonna be like "remember the big Note 7 fiasco?" :p

haha no, glad they didn't return to removable batteries.

Thank Zack, yet another great video. I also share the view about the Note 7 being a safety hazard. Keep up the great work man.

I still think you are too easy on Samsung. The Note 7 was not recalled because they genuinely care about consumers. It was recalled because the engineers estimated the cost of recalling was less than the potential cost of lawsuits plus damage to the brand. In other words, they acted just like any other OEM would. If that doesn't convince you yet, google enlightenment wtf and beware that Sammy will eventually migrate entirely to Tizen.

No0dz at least they recalled them that's something Apple wouldn't do they just blame their customers for using their phone wrong a let you pay a million dollars to get it fixed

who cares if recall is also a smart choice for them, it obviously is a genuine and caring choice for us.. ofcourse samsung cares about their customers.. most companies would rather blame users for not handling it properly and schemes for swapping phones or replacing only those which were effected.. obviously if they didn't cared ,they'd would launch replacement schemes for effected phones..

I was curious why that happened to the Note 7, thanks for the video!

Alfonso Guerrero Me too. Got all 4 Colors of the 1st edition. I would never ever return them. The battery story is a lie still kept up again: How can a battery explode before finding the real reason: SNAPDRAGON 821 😡😡😡 - Exynos-Devices never burnt ever.....🤔

I noticed something, the batteries in the safe and unsafe note 7's were the same just a bit newer.
