Back in the mid 1980s I met Walter Andrew several times when he visited a mutual friend. We talked extensively about his father, and growing up. He had only the kindest things to say about his dad, .. Walter always put in his contracts that remote film sets always needed to also accommodate his wife and children.. he said it was the only way to raise a family, to be with them. Walter Andrew was kind enough to send me a 8x10 portrait of his father. He was most gracious, and genuinely pleased that I was such a fan of his dads. May they all be resting in peace.

Walter Brennan was a fine actor, a hard and industrious worker, and a fine man from what I've read about him. I suspect the reason some people do not like Mr. Brennan is because, like John Wayne, Walter Brennan was a political conservative. Thank you, Mr. Skinner, for another great biography! My kids are all grown up and have there own kids. And there kids watch Rio Bravo all the time. It is fun to watch and hear what the Grandkids do. I don't understand how or why people take actors like Walter Brennan and vilify them. Thank You For the Documentary of one of my child hood heroes.
@donf38776 ай бұрын
According to the far left woke liberals, everything and everyone in the U.S. in horrible... except themselves of course. Therefore, everything and everyone in history must be vilified. And, everything anyone ever said must be taken in context of modern day. Just like the comment John Wayne said about blacks. When he said it, his statement was in fact true. Things have changed, however that does NOT mean he was wrong or racist for saying it "at that point in time". There are NO movies from back in 2000 and prior that could be made today, because of the modern canceling of anything a very few believe needs to be canceled or censured. Can you imagine them making Blazing Saddles now???!!! Or even the Rock Hudson Doris Day movies???!!! Oh how racist or oh how sexist......................................

Jerry, you have a gift for presenting your biographies in a way that leaves your viewers moved emotionally. I was watching an old B-Western from the early 30's that listed Walter Brennan in the opening credits. Being used to his appearance in later years, I watched for him at least 1/4 of the way thru the movie before I realized he was that slim, lanky cowboy in most of the scenes. With hard work and dedication to his craft he really developed into a unique actor thru-out his career.

I met Walter when he was the Grand Marshal of a parade in Camarillo, California. He was in a convertible, and I was a gas station pumper and garage employee. I saw him stopped, and I ran out and shook his hand. Walter was a very conservative man in his politics. He was part of the American Independent party. He also liked Datsun B210 cars because they were very fuel efficient. He owned two of them. You didn't mention his role in the epic movie How the West was Won. He played a key early role that set the role of Jimmy Stewart of Lionel Rollins for his significant but short path in the movie. Excellent video that you produced, thank you.

@warrenroy5376 It seems that so many documentaries on TV and KZbin have shown how sick and perverted Hollywood has always been. But it also shows a few members of the acting field kept some values and honor over the years and left a decent and respectful mark on history.
