It was about this time 1969 that i had the good fortune to briefly meet Ozzie and Harriet. They were just as personable as they were on the famous TV show. Ozzie spoke with me as though we were old friends. They were a wonderful couple!

Ozzie is a genius. Love Harriet's personality and all of them on the show. it's impossible to fake the love they had/have for each other.

Me too! I didn’t realize he composed them. I’ve tried to look them up and didn’t have any luck. I guess that’s why.

I remember this show. It was always nice to see Harriet and Ozzie. Now I watch repeats of the old episodes of their great show. Thanks for the entertainment for so long and the good memories of what life was really like years back. I saw one where the kids had cowboy outfits and guns and no one said what bad parents they had. I used to pretend to be a cowgirl and had guns too. Too bad and too sad for our kids today not to know that fun. The world sure has changed. Just shows it was not playing with the guns that caused mass shootings. Today, they need to worry more about the violent content of the video games kids watch for hours.

Learned on another clip that Ozzie played football for 3 years with Rutgers. At 135 pounds. He was apparently quite the athlete in his youth. Wish I could remember the clip, but it's worth a look.

"The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" had been the longest running live action sitcom. It recently was surpassed "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". But Ozzie and Harriet had 435 episodes and the other has only 154 as of this date. I liked the show growing up and watching it when it first aired and I like the reruns now. Perhaps appreciate it even more especially the writing. There are a lot of little twists and turns woven into to especially some episodes.

i can't believe all the ozzie shows are NOT available....i wonder if if they count some eps twice...such as a 60s ep that was really a repeat of 50s show with an introduction by ozzie or harriet?????

Ozzie produced SO many episodes, he could indulge in occasional repeats from the earlier seasons in later years {"We thought you'd get a kick out of a show we did about five years ago........"}. Because of the sheer number of episodes, he also decided to syndicate about *half* of them [200], personally deciding which ones were worth "perpetuating" in repeats on local stations.

Asked what the Nelsons' home life was like, Harriet once said it was like any other family. They would come home from work, have dinner and then, instead of the kids doing their homework, they would be learning their lines for next day. Much of the show was based on the family's real lives, particularly when David went to college.

I've been listening to some of the old radio shows, and their voices didn't change one bit! The fact Ozzie didn't smoke (so he said) may have been a reason.

I liked Ozzie feigning ignorance on weed, mary-jane, hemp. He was a prominent musician in the thirties, so it's doubtful he was being introduced to anything new. Louis Nye was great, "Ralph's College," what a hoot.

But the 'Harlem' musicians were more famous for their 'use' of the 'reefer' that was supposed to make them mad sex fiends. How you think all them Nelsons came to be? Harriet's more than a vocalist, you know. Ozzie was pulling a Brian Williams.
