This was so cool to see. I was absolutely sure that your eyeballed black was going to be at least as dark as the measured one. Boy was I surprised 😲 The white on the other hand is a little bit more difficult to judge on my screen. I have to agree with you that the second pour of the eyeballed white is a scoche whiter than the first and your measured mixture. But that could just be my perception as it's a very slight difference.

Heyyyy lovely .. that is a great question ! Yes generally speaking you need to de mould after 30 ... but for some strange reason way beyond my knowledge ... it doesn't seem to sweat in certain moulds. If you have a palette knife use it to smooth over the top to pop the bubbles. You ou can also try a massager to shake the piece evenly. The concrete people use reciprocating saws with the blade to shake their big pieces.

Tried many other black pigments, even tried iron oxide but all ended up dark grey. The pot looks whiter because of specular highlights, light rays converge more tightly on a curved surface so it appears lighter. That's the end of todays optical physics lesson :)

The not quite black black makes the white look a little gray. I have a question not related to black or white. You used hot glue in molds to make Halloween decorations. Where did you find the molds and do they have a variety of things? By the way; you're doing an excellent job 👏🏻. Remember when you barely had 1K subscribers? You've come a long way 👶.

Hey Claire! Lovely video! Just wondering, I’ve been using the 1:2.5 ratio for some pots but they have really thin walls, and when I poured in my first colour, it always get stuck around the outer walls and that’s very frustrating. I’ve tried changing my ratio to 1:2 so it’s thinner and easier to pour, doing it very slowly and carefully, but still that does happen. Do you have any idea how I could get round this? Also, it happens that some sweating happened to my piece when I left the first colour in to set. How did you manage to not have sweat marks on the first layer? Thank you girl you are amazing with these tutorials❤
@ClairesCraftyCorner Жыл бұрын
Heyyyy lovely ... if it has really thin walls you can squish the centre of the mould a bit .. so that the Jesmonite goes down the sides .. but I would mostly tap the mould as I'm pouring. Also .. if you change the mix ratio it weakens the product so I would try to avoid that one. As for sweat marks .. I haven't yet learned how to get them out. I did see someone say they dry out and dissappear but mine never have.

This video was perfect timing for me thank you Claire. I need to make my candle vessels a super white and I think I was putting to much pigment. I was putting in 20gm of white pigment on a total jesmonite of 307 😱. To be honest my vessels came out really white and they are still strong… lol. I’m gonna try the 2% pigment and see what results I get. I do have a question! Can you recommend any sealer for Jesmonite? Jesmonite sealer is sold out and I can’t get my hands on any.

Hiya - back with another question 😜 another person asked this and I read the response, I’m still a bit confused. Re: measurements for when wanting to do a two tone effect ( like the pot vessel) so if I wanted to try this with a trinket tray ( like the ones you use) i divide the total jesmonite required by 2 to create my two batches for each colour then add 2% of colour based on the total mixture used for each batch? Sorry hope that question makes sense and I haven’t confused you…I know what I’m trying to ask haha it’s like when you did the abstract trinket trays you mixed up different batches of colour & then filled the tray so it’s understanding how the batches are calculated You may have a tutorial that explains this which I’m not aware of or have missed so please let me know if that’s the case - otherwise if you did a tutorial specific to how you work out stuff when doing multiple colours for the one item would be sooooo helpful - thanks again 🤗
@ClairesCraftyCorner2 жыл бұрын
heyyyyyy lovely .. yes so if you have a tray that takes 200g ... you can put your 2% in 100g and another 2% in the other 100g xx so the whole batch would have 4% x

I'm still confused by total volume. So, mine is 40g, which equates to 20g of liquid and 50g of powder. (mine is 1:2.5 ratio), so by 2% of the total volume, is that 40g, or 70,?

@Annymll892 жыл бұрын
@@ClairesCraftyCorner Hi Claire, yes, unfortunately, when wet sanding Black jesmonite, a greyish cast is left behind; I wrote an email to Jesmonite themselves, and their response was as follows : “The cured Jesmonite AC100 surface contains an acrylic rich layer on the top surface, when abrading the surface with sandpaper this will remove the acrylic rich layer from the surface and you will see a difference in the saturation/strength of the surface colour. We have a number of clients who use Renaissance Micro Crystalline Wax to achieve a colour enhanced Jesmonite surface; they would normally brush the wax onto the surface and then leave it for 30 minutes before buffing the waxed surface with a white cotton cloth. Kind regards,” So yeah
