My mistake I made rain barrels but didn't put them up high so I have no water pressure. They are full right now so the only way I can empty them is to use a vacuum to create suction. Lesson learned. Once I empty them I will put them up higher.

I use old fashion water catchment from down spout into a covered 55 gallon trash can with.no problems. Last winter in TX everything froze also my can and it broke.

I have a grow bag garden that I setup that is too far away from my house that it is not practical to use a pump to use for irrigating my vegetable plants. Will the valve provide enough pressure to do the job without being raised up more than 20"? I can not raising the barrels up off the ground over 20" will be too tall to catch the water coming off my roof of my chicken run beside the area.

Curious why your barrels are so low? My 200 litre barrels and 1,000 litre square container are ~1.2metres above ground for better flow.

Hi there - the higher you elevate your barrels, the more pressure you will get. That said, elevating tanks isn't practical for everybody. Between safety, budget, time/effort, space available, and the need to gravity-flow water into the barrels from above (if filling from rain gutters, which most of our customers do), not everybody has a practical option for elevating a rainwater catchment system. The good news is, a well-designed gravity-fed irrigation system will work with minimal pressure/elevation. Hello guys, In my country we don't have much rain at all.. so we suffer of the water issues a LOT. So heard the other day a guy locally talking about new system that works by gravity and keeps the roots always wet.. i don't know the exact name of the system.. but I heard it's totally new to the market! Have anyone heard of it please? and where can we get it from? I will ask also some local farmer community and see how will it go.

Hi there! Curious about using rainwater captured from roof run off in a vegetable garden. I thought you weren’t supposed to because the chemicals from shingles gets in the water and has been found in the vegetables. Is there something new that shows that isn’t an issue? Still going to use this for my flower gardens! Just wondering if I could expand it to vegetable gardens too.

Hi Heidi, great question. The short answer is: it is safe to use rainwater collected from roofs with asphalt shingles for a vegetable garden (see link below for exceptions). And...a BlueBarrel System has multiple opportunities for filtering roof runoff including a 100-micron filter for the drip system drain valve.
