@ironmike southern I think the problem Piper had with Mr. T was that he felt that Mr. T was taking a spot from another wrestler.. I can see that as the potential dislike and I also felt Piper was a little jealous of Mr. T too cause of how he was treated by WWF like he was royalty while the wrestlers who were the main show got treated like second fiddle or sloppy seconds.. knowing Piper was a little racist too didn't help much either.. LoL

Jesse correct that is basic a huge scam on US citizens. Be different if them people was properly paid. 99% are not. In the long term who pays for it is Us.. Tax payers. Why? biggest part of them will end up on public assistance. While Weasel face Vince rolling laughing at us in all his cash. That 1 thing they need make new laws on. Our taxes high enough.

In the mid 80s during the height of his game, a friend was in a severe car accident and he was in a coma. He was up at a hospital in Chicago and Mr. T. was visiting children and he stopped to say Hello to Chuck and prayed with him and sat with him for over an hour. No cameras, no media. He did it out of the kindness of his heart. Unfortunately Chuck passed away 3 years after that from a blood clot from that accident. Mr. T. is a class act.

It really seems that way, I met a small time manager in the '90s named Ronnie p gossett, based out of Chattanooga and mostly worked local shows in and around Tennessee and he was on USWA... one of the most unlikable looking people I've ever met, I literally wanted to kick him in the sack, but I was going to some small independent shows and he was there every week, and every week after the show some of us got to hang out, get autographs from the wrestlers, even get in the ring which we probably shouldn't have, that's where I learned that most ring ropes are cables inside water hoses wrapped in electrical tape, because it was a cheap Indie ring and the tape was drying out and peeling off, anyway after the show is over Ronnie was like the neighborhood grandfather, sitting around talking to the kids joking with them, complete opposite of his character

If wrestlers are independent contractors, then they can go to another wrestling company without burning a bridge with the promoter. That's what Randy Savage and Lex Luger did and their relationship with Vince was never the same.
@Scorch10286 жыл бұрын
It’s great to hear Jesse Ventura talk about how he didn’t “need” Vince McMahon & the WWE. Ventura was one of the first pro wrestlers to ever have a Hollywood agent. This enabled him to negotiate his contract with Vince & Titan Sports Inc. from a position of power, not weakness. In my opinion Jesse Ventura is one of the most ‘under-rated’ action film stars in the history of cinema. He truly ‘made’ many blockbuster hits the success they were. I cannot imagine ‘The Predator’ or ‘The Running Man’ without Jesse Ventura. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ventura on the mic as the ‘intelligent heel’ commentator who would “tell it like it is” as a foil to the more straight-laced Vince McMahon persona who was in the role of defending baby face wrestlers and scorning the heels. Ventura played off of ‘every’ one of his co-commentators well. At Summer Slam ‘89 Jesse said of Miss Elizabeth: “Before she met Randy Savage, she was just a hash-slinger from Jersey!”

I wouldn't dare work for a wrestling promotion and not have any type of covering. I like watching WWE whenever i get a chance to but I've heard this scenario time and time again. Then of course you have Seth Rollins and Sasha Banks that are so "gung ho" protecting a company that may do away with them on a whim. It's a double edged sword for the WWE. If they had to get insurance for every wrestler on the roster Their premiums would shoot through the roof. Just having 1-3 wrestlers sustaining career ending injuries would make the cost of insurance for every wrestler on the roster astronomical. Now since WWE is paying for something they haven't in the past where do you think that money comes from? Most likely the wrestlers pockets. Now everyone has a premium Insurance plan that's between 30-100 thousand dollars a year because they are all high risk. Now the top guys take a little hit to their paycheck but the young guys/gals breaking into the WWE make bread crumbs. I realize the WWE could get different tiers of insurance for different tiers of wrestlers but that's the give and take of it all.

This guy was like Mike Hagger from Final Fight. He even became mayor at one point.

For whatever reason, three years later, this keeps showing up in my feed, and I keep scrolling past it, finally click on it, and find that everything else in the clip is way more interesting than the Sega thing. Great clip, handicapped by its title.

Jesse was a great friend and wanted to fight for pro wrestlers to actually be independent contractors, not employees. He is absolutely right. I miss you, Jesse! You ever come to SOFLA, gimme a shout. Luv ya, man!
