First off, for the people looking for the Star Fox-like game, it's Starbreed. Dodger did mention it. Funny that you mentioned Atlyss, it was recently featured in Iron Pineapple's soulslike dumpster dive series. Maybe you could have him as a guest? The Subverse team has some fans of Jesse, there's a related easter egg in the game, dunno if you knew about it.

@@dennisl9176 there's an abandoned spaceship called Space Butterfly, and its description mentions a Captain Cox. There's a minor character who is also called Cox, but in my eyes the name of the spaceship is a dead giveaway of it being a reference.

I feel like not enough people remember that The Hobbit movies were first of all, supposed to be directed by Guillermo del Toro but he backed out in Pre Production so Peter Jackson and co had to entirely redo the script, then he got a stomach ulcer and was hospitalized. There was supposed to be only two movies and the reason it got extended to three was because he didn't have the opportunity to plan everything out like he did The Lord of The Rings so they made the Battle of the 5 Armies into movie 3 so he had another year to work on it. Personally I think the they turned out pretty well considering how much of a mess the production was.
@N0d4chi4 күн бұрын
They are pretty bad. Should have been one movie.
@andromidius3 күн бұрын
You can tell most of the effort went into the first half of the first movie. Because its near flawless. Second half of the movie starts to show signs of it being a rush job - there's some iffy CGI, actors swinging their swords at nothing where clearly there was supposed to be something inserted in post, etc. Then it went downhill from there, mostly due to bloat. The fact there's a fan edit that cut the trilogy down into a four hour or so single movie that works really well really hammers it home for me. There's a good movie (or two movies) in there - but my god, there's so much unnecessary padding!
@YMasterSКүн бұрын
None of that had anything to do with why it sucked. They tried to make something that was written to be completely dissimilar to lotr into lotr. To top it off, the hobit is just a bad novel.l, so they were working with garbage to begin with.

Jesse's experience is the right way to play Starfeild IMO, and good on him for avoiding the dull content. Starfield is a game made by a company that is great at making bespoke environments, where they for some reason made a huge aspect of the game take place in procedurally generated areas. All the areas they actually designed are great, its just that all the procedural content drags it down.

Totally agree with you Jesse about Rings of Power. Maybe it’s because I’ve been enjoying the stories in LOTR games for decades, but there’s a lot of very good stuff to enjoy. I think the comparison to the Hobbit movies is very apt. It’s not a once-in-a-generation masterpiece, but TBH it was never going to be. I do hope it keeps the current trajectory with improving things between seasons. Season 2 was better than S1, and S3 has a great deal of potential (with them closing down several of the unnecessary storylines)
