@@local.albanian.6967 had around 7 guys from when i was in high school trying to gang up on me. Used the swift type of footwork to get myself out of the circle (got punched on yhe way out but still better than getting beat up). And then kept using my jab while stepping back until i got into a narrow kind of alley where they couldn't surround me. Once i broke one of their noses they just wouldn't keep up and left.

The problem is that in real life, they won't attack one by one, you'll have at least 2 or more who'll pin you down the moment you attempt your first move. The best defense is to escape/run away and if possible get help or arm yourself. Trying to fight multiple attackers alone may cost you your life.
@bcarlin262 жыл бұрын
I recently had this happen to me with a man & woman. Every time I tried to get up he pinned/pulled me back down.

I know someone who got people chasing him in a straight line by running away. They chase after him and look what happens - they all run at different speeds. When one gets close enough,, he stops, lowers his base and then strikes with a kick or elbow while they're midstep and before they could react and apply the brakes

Good technique. Probably one weapon of opportunity (a belt, a bag, an umbrella) might help too…One good technique against two-three opponents is nearly the opposite, cause you don’t start running through the gang, you start running from the gang. You do so as to let the closer opponent start to chase you: then you squat down and make him stumble over you. That’s a bad fall to take on concrete: it might in itself end the fight because the other attackers likely stop to check if their friend is ok, help him up…You now have better chance to escape just by running away. At worst it becomes one vs one or one vs two, that’s still very bad but better than before.

So here I go, when the deffender blocks the attack souldn't he move in a way that he does not show is back or passe between 2 adversaries? I'm asking because I have praticed in the goju-ryu style and that's what they taught me!! From your fan Sensei Scott (shodan)

@yuhtanizawa76862 жыл бұрын
Theoratically the katas are there to teach you how to fight multiple opponents but that´s only theory right? In my opinion there is no point in all those katas regarding self-defense since it doesn´t work for real. What do you think? PS: This lining up of all those opponents is a strategy from Miyamoto Musashi, right :)?

Would football/ rugby side steps work to evade multiple attackers What about combat roles and cartwheels ? Does parkour work in a street fight ?
@shankarsatheesan68465 жыл бұрын
If you want to not get hurt and escape quickly, then parkour is probably your best option (while fighting It's not as useful. It helps to build speed and strength, which are extremely necessary, but very few techniques related to fighting). I don't know about rugby because I don't play it, but I suppose tackles are quite useful and cool. Rolls and cartwheels should be avoided because if you get caught in between, you end up on the ground which is an extremely precarious position. The exercises shown in the video are great and extremely useful, and no doubt karate is very effective, however if I'm jumped by more than 2 guys, my first priority would be to run.
