Yes And that’s why when you build your body as a weapon , placing anything in it becomes an extension of yourself! At what stage do you think this transformation start to become evident in the learning process? In the 60’s it was 5 kyu green belt. It was the most difficult of all underbelt ranks. This is where most fall off as there are several dynamics physical, psychological and spiritual. Hai! To push and to endure. Osu!

This IS a very fun video, but not really a fair comparison. I was in the Bujinkan for over 10 years (nidan), and we did do a lot of weapons, but it was mostly unarmed stuff. Karate, of course, also has weapons. I think it would be more accurate to either show both unarmed or both weapons.

The equivalent of Karate in Ninjutsu (Ninpo/Shinobijutsu) is Taijutsu. It contains many ways (jutsu). Dakentaijutsu (strikes), Koppojutsu (bone attacks), Koshijutsu (nerve attacks), Jutaijutsu (throwing, locks, and chokes), and Taihenjutsu (avoidance). So comparing Karate to Ninjutsu sword techniques is a bit of a non-starter for me.

Similar swords to a "ninjato" have been discovered in history, but not at the same time as the katana. The katana with the curve was designed to draw and cut in the same motion. A superior design. The idea of ninjas using a straight, shorter blade came from the fact that they didn't hold the katana as sacred like the samurai did. Therefore, when they'd take an enemies sword, often they'd chop off a portion of the end which made it shorter and faster to draw. It also made it appear straighter because the sori or curve of the blade is more pronounced at the end.

My teacher taught us many unarmed techniques, some obviously used in karate. Any weapons were taught principly as an extension to the body. But key was adaptability, working with what you know and using what the situation and environment offers you. Sure, we could use wristlocks and the like to control an attacker and yes my teacher was the koppojutsu guy and generally offered some savage possibilities to end a demonstrated technique - think "Finish him!" - but he also taught that not every fight should be embraced and sometimes it is better to defend and run.

Ninjitsu was fun to study I enjoyed learning how to Fox walk , hide , run away and parkour Seperating fact from myth was also great If it wasn't for ninjitsu training I would have never started rock climbing so it also opened up new interest I recommend learning Ninjitsu Stealth tactics , Fox walking , climbing and Assassin philosophy and I teach these tactics to my apprentices as part of their training

There is this common anecdote among pratictioneers of martial arts that use weapons where you accept a challenge and ask if you are allowed to use _any technique_ you learned just to show up with a broadsword, dagger or other weapon and refuse to fight without it because the opponent agreed with the use of _any_ technique.

Ninjutsu is like Navy Seal or Ghost, eliminate or subdue without enemy noticing it. Karate is more on humane side, evading your attacks and kicking your ass till you lose all of your stamina and will to fight.

That's Bujinkan system but that's not the ninjutsu part of it. That's one of the 3 samurai schools in it. Ninjas never used katanas.

You are correct in saying it's part of the Bujinkan system but they certainly did use katana.

@@EngineersQuest they used ninjato (a.k.a. shinobigatana). They weren't curved but rather straight because they valued silence over speed. Also, they were shorter for portability.

Занимаюсь карате и занимался ниндзюцу, в карате это кихон программа которую в бою не применяют а там мощные бои, а ниндзюцу вообще не так, люди которые думают что лучше это или то то однозначно говорю что ниндзюцу>
