Bas Rutten used to feed his opponent low roundhouse kicks then feint one into a front kick to the guts. He could easily knock opponents down if they tried to check the roundhouse.

Jesse Enkamp's teaching approach is perfect and a great inspiration. It brings me back torwards karate fundamentals the way they are supposed to be taught. His teachings are so rich in style and strategy in which is a signal of fundamentals, and not swaying from the true karate way, or martial way.

It isn’t really a combo but my favourite kick technique is to bring your leg up in front of you (as if to do a mai Geri) and snap your hip out to the side into a (mawashi geri). Thanks I am stealing some of these

I was actually shocked when I discovered you on KZbin, you are the first one who treats karate in his videos and is successful with it. I really like the way you do karate videos. I've been doing karate since I was 3 years old. So almost since I can walk :) I am now 19 and already have the 3' Dan, I would care the how many dan you have? :) Greetings from Germany :)

Hey I really enjoy your how to improve videos. I've been practicing kenpo and jiu-jitsu since I was 6 and very recently I was diagnosed with a softball sized brain tumor that took 4 brain surgeries to remove and even still I need radiation therapy sessions. In doing so I was living in the hospital for 4 months and learned that many things that i used to do would have been forgotten. Things like auto racing, playing the piano and martial arts are taking a very long time to relearn. Your how to vids are helping me regain my old self again and after watching this video I began recalling many more things. Thank you again. I really appreciate it.

In Taekwondo we aim the kneecap with a straight kick (front kick or side kick). It's a very dirty move because it can permanently destroy the knee if you kick strong enough (like anyone who is serious in their training). If we want to be tricky and play around we can do a regular low roundhouse kick, immediately (without putting your leg on the ground) followed by a twist kick to the face. Maybe I should make a video about it and other kicks. Karate is part of Taekwondo's base but Taekwondo really took kicking to another level, which is what separates it from other martial arts and makes it so unique. Props to Koreans for that^^ Note: I am not talking about Taekwondo sports sparring, most players there have ridiculous (terrible) technique.

Another thing I’d like to share is kicking with the ball of the foot which is done in Isshinryu. Low kicking with the ball of the foot to the chin, knee, lower foot and all the places you mentioned will more than likely maime a person or cripple them so they could not fight back. Isshinryu traditionally uses no kicks higher than the waist and for self defense it’s perfect. Thanks for sharing and helping people understand bunkai too along with the importance of Kata. Keep it going Jesse!

Thanks for the video, I like it because it is usefull for me as a Kyokushin karateka. Point to consider: if your low kick is blocked with the knee it will be very painful for you, so I tend not to use the low kick as the first attack in the combo when the opponent is in his good balance, strength, and reading capabilities. I like to feint with some strikes to the body and than follow/end with a low kick. I wonder why most combo's consist of 3 techniques, is there a reaon or explanation for? Is it to keep it simple because that works the best? I mean 4 or 5 attacks are less simple than 3. And I agree that for combo's there is one good rule: the simpler the better.

We usually stand with the hips more squared in relation to the opponents, i.e not as typical point Karate stance but more facing the opponents almost with both hips facing the opponent. It can sometimes be easier to camouflage the kick but at the same time you need to have a high core strength, as in all Karate, to get all the power through the kick by using the hips and the core. But this does as well depend on body size, muscular build and quality of technical execution. Great demonstration of combinations, Jesse Sensei. And yes, we use it a lot in Kuyokshin as it can be really devastating. But fortunately, I have in my long career only used it in sparring or kumite, thanks god I never had an actual street fight. 🙏

Great video Jess what i liked most was there was something for everyone dependent on your style of fighting ...
@djw95246 жыл бұрын
definitely painful without any protection, but regarding point fighting, when you have those leg guards on, you can take multiple kicks no problem, so it's lame that it's not allowed, but oh well, you can't throw with two hands either anymore....the only thing i like about point sparring is that you control your attacks to the head, since logically, you cannot condition your head with hits, but that's about the only thing i like about it.

Dear Jesse. According to my research. Even considering the devastating action of a low kick. The main and very main reason is that your opponent is grabbed when you kick so very close. If you check the Goju ryu katas or the book by Sensei Nagamine where he talks about the kinteki geri. A gueri with the bone and no distance needed. Regards

Can you do a karate Vs muay Thai kick video
@adammakour44484 жыл бұрын
I would say that Muay Thai would win a kick fight because of the fact that they are very brutal with how they train their kick they will most of the time go hours just straight up kicking each other and a bag but if it was a actual fight with punches then Muay Thai would win because of knees punches elbows but i don’t think karate would be prepared for a clinch or a elbow
@noire23264 жыл бұрын
@@adammakour4448 not anymore, many karate fighters destroy muaythai in stand up fight. Karate uses blitzing and nice footwork to dodge low kick. See robert whittaker or kyoji Horiguchi.

This was totally awesome, man! I knew Karate had leg attacks but I didn't know they were so perfectly attuned for combos. I do Taekwondo, which lacks leg kicks, but I was looking for a source of ideas that I wasn't finding in Muah Thai, which I'm not a fan of. These are so much better as they create more variety and better combo chaining. Unpredictable and fluid. Love it! This is way more compatible with my Taekwondo combos. Fantastic vid, thanks so much for posting this! You've given me a ton to think about!

I have a very funny experience with using low kick. I am a south paw fighter and I almost to won every kumite with this move actually. Because I am a close quarters figher. I actually do a low kick motion but using a knee kick to the opponents thigh. I won every round and some times switching that to using a knee to lever. I was at the time rochester competition in kyokushin tournament. But in the type of the fighter video you recently uploaded, I knew I am a gifted fighter because I am patient with enduring the attacks I use my observation to my advantage. In result, I could've been a real martial artist.

I wish I could share your well rounded influence, positive nature, and traditional/modernized etiquette with our Shihan and Senseis. Unfortunately, and I'm sure you understand on some level that they frown on KZbin influence. We study a traditional Shotokan style doctrined by Shojiro Sugiyama, and we have seen some issues where kids are modifying techniques by learning ahead on KZbin. I share with my family your videos in house, the kids love to watch and learn from them. Please continue to create them, and who knows perhaps some day you'll do a seminar/camp in the capitol region of upstate NY. Thank you 🛐 P.S.- The Seishin Gi 🥋 looks amazing, we hope to try them first hand some day.
