Little Jesse not being able to take losses is hilarious to me

lmao, it’s not like i had a tantrum, but the nerves kinda take over, bit of imposter syndrome, and i would then not trust my reads, or make stupid mistakes cus i was distracted. Mental fortitude is unsurprisingly really important at big events and 13 year old jesse was not cut out for it.

@@jessekottonygo Damn, we're all the same way. I played chess and when I would take loses in my teen years I would storm out and go non-contact and silent. But now when I lose I just exam the game, give my opponent their kudos, and take the lesson from it. Mental fortitude is a huge part of being a champion and it's what makes you one now, Jesse! 🤝

If Jesse becomes the WolfeyVGC(from a content stand point, you already have the accolades lmao) of yugioh I genuinely think it would be fantastic for the game and the community! Edit: I mean this in the ability for Jesse to bring people in to competitive yugioh the way Wolfe has gotten people into Pokémon VGC. This is not to get into a “who’s better” discussion.

I really disagree with not playing Coelacanth. I think it is often thought of as a way to make the turn 1 board better. But I think its best used as a way to push through handtraps or into boards and I think that's where its value lies. Droll and Purulia become much less impactful when playing Coel and it gives some sort of chance through shifter. Overall though I like the theory in your list and appreciate that you explained your choices and changes you would make so thank you for taking the time to do that.

coelacanth gets targetted with imperm or veiler xd it just uses its 2nd eff to negate it and just resume lol.
@0dddballl7504 күн бұрын
30:44 really small thing but you actually can't go teus 1 shadow guards 2, as shadow is mandatory and teus isn't, meaning you can't make pike miss timing in this way. Something that you could technically do though is megalo pitch goons and shadow, in which case you could make pike miss timing. EDIT: I just realised why he thinks this. Mermail abyssteus actually has a VERY small errata! The original print (which his is, as they're ultis) actually do say that they're mandatory, whereas the newer prints of the cards are, for some reason, optional!

I really like this new format of video. I think this is the most engaging tournament recap I’ve seen by far and beyond that one of the easiest to consume yugioh gameplay videos I’ve seen. There are some obvious execution issues with the duels like anemone being summoned to the wrong zone or engraver being facedown even after being discarded but most are quite minor and I would expect this to improve over time I like the short cutting that is done when for example you say in the lab game you threw up some negates and they conceded rather than going through the far more drawn out step by step explanation It would be nice if known information updated as it happens ie 50:08 neptabyss search guards but guards doesnt show up till after

Good list Just little suprise you don't play or at least mention the "Abyss-scale of Mizuchi" (the equip spell that negate a spell on resolution), because it's the best card after Side to prevent any cards like Droplet/ DRNM / Super Poly / Called By, or just prevent any spell starter or something other Even if I think know the reasons why you don't play it: you must considerate it's a brick and if your combo pass, Abyss-Scale or not, you win I'm agree if it's for that, but in the same time (especially because you play 2 Megalo in deck), I think it's a good addition for rentabilise them. Because Megalo search the Triana first to extend, and after that Neptabyss King search the Mizuchi, and because of that, you are pretty sure at 99% your field is unbeattable by power spell of opponent 😌 NOTE: the animation (when you show your games) is INSANELY cool !!! 😉

Love this! I highly recommend taking a look at Small World. Its a potential thrust target that can turn any monster in hand into a neptabyss or any other monster, including board breakers like Gamaciel. I was running 1 small world, 1 aria but i ended up not liking how aria requires an established gy. Plus you run so many monsters in the maindeck that you'll always have something in hand to use!

Coelacanth is pretty necessary imo to play though a lot of interruptions like droll, which is the bane of this decks' existence alongside shifter, which is even worse but coel allows you to at least do something against those cards. Otherwise any card you bring out with rhine like teus or megalo aren't gonna get any value on field or in your hand. It can even push through a lot of boards and interruptions going second, the only fishes you really need to play are 3 pike and armored shark or Fishborg Harpooner to make double xyz's.
@kio48966 күн бұрын
The problem is that coelacanth not only requires you to play itself, which is a brick, you have to play 3 pike, which is your worst normal summon. 4 slots in your deck is a big ask, when you don't want to draw any of those 4 cards.
@fg000006 күн бұрын
I really like the tournament coverage. It helps a ton to see your reasoning for your plays against different matchups
@Gymantis6 күн бұрын
I fully agree with his philosophy of not running these win more engines that are complete bricks when drawn. I think the deck runs better on board breakers than hand traps. Just go full gas with some meaningful going 2nd cards like Super Poly for Mudragon and Droplets to do things like sacking the Diva when it gets inevitably handtrapped.
@DoBa19943 күн бұрын
Very great in depth content, love these kinds of videos to really get a grasp an insight into the deck instead of just having random combos shown. PS: The card is called Abyss-Rhine not Abyss-Shrine. :)

In the most recent Master duel event I climbed to dvl max without the mermail support with a mermail deck. It was very difficult, but it stretched me to have to play very clean in order to win against decks like yubel and SEFK. I was supprised, but I even had a decent win rate going second. Definitely an uphill battle, but I am excited for these new cards to see what else I can cook.

Ok finished watching the video and seems like initial changes that Jesse wants to make is fitting a marksman to main and another to the side. Honestly seems like cutting a Megalo or the Deep Sea rota would be the immediate way to achieve that. Otherwise a lot of his points I was Leaning towards from the start of rota release (no big fish, and embracing the breaker aspects of the deck. Water was a breaker deck at one point and really good at it so it’s not out of the realm of possibility to revisit that route.)

I remember seeing your match against Hoban in person at that YCS. You were just boned from the beginning. Who knew that was your turning point... I felt incredibly confident with that deck and won a very tough round 1 with Mono-Mermail. Round 2, I lost to Paul Cooper, getting OTKed in both games. Then Round 3, I lost to Agents will a lot of my confidence shot after losing to Paul. One positive...
