A banlist won't solve the main issue of Konami constantly printing generic 1 card starter engines and generic extra deck monsters that act as more extension or interruption.

The key phrases are "generic" and "interruption" If Snake-Eyes couldn't go into anything strong, then it would have a weakness, and would have to rely on hand-traps, which is definitely an issue in itself, but I think something like Apoloussa still being legal is insane.

Imo the best solution is just ban flamberge. Card is too degenerate. Obviously this would almost kill the deck on the spot, but the ability to resurrect 2 bodies + reborn an IP for free + being level 8 for rank 8 plays with the diabell snake eye is just too insane. Flamberge is the sole reason why this deck have AN INSANE follow up play, can end on multiples interaction board.

I'd rather other decks have a reason to use witch than be forced to consider "but wait maybe I could just play jet synchron" or "i could play ash". Did you know witch has a second way of special summoning herself? Or that other sinful spoil cards exist outside of original, or the other sinful spoils cards assist witch by herself like silvera? Like, imagine if the best use for witch was chimera fusion for guardian chimera, cl1 guardian chimera cl2 witch send guardian chimera. Hell, people complain about the draw effect of wanted when that's only a problem because original sinful spoil is an overtuned normal spell that can be activated immediately as opposed to silvera, rciela, cycle etc.. AND it cuts off both extenders and starters for snake eyes. Like, it IS the perfect hit for the deck

Already looking to be there, Fiendsmith is going to splashed literally everywhere, and it is going to be stupidly expensive to boot. Really it's the pricing that really puts me off these formats more than the length. Just when you thought Tear was a bad as it would get, Snake-Eyes literally doubled the price of getting the only viable deck competitively. Fiendsmith is going to do the same, except on a much larger scale, and while it may not be a one deck format (unless Snake-Eye is left unabashed AGAIN), it will price a significant number of people out of the game who want to be competitive. (Thankfully, I live in the UK/EU, and Konami doesn't seem to want us to compete anyway, so fuck 'em. I won't be buying Fiendsmith, because apparently, there's nothing asides Locals for me to use it on.) The price barrier of entry is the main reason why playing in the TCG has been so bad, though the back to back Tier 0 formats also hurts a lot, and the way the game is being played in our current Tier 0 format, is really not much fun. Either you have a bunch of hand traps ready to pick apart your opponents plays, or you have nothing and they make a board that's completely unassailable and you realise that you've already lost. Really the only fix is to have Konami stop being so fucking greedy with "staples" and "essential cards", but that's not going to happen, because it would've done so by now. If anything, we're worse off, because we've not a Structure Deck in nearly a year now (which is how normally we get very accessible reprints of popular/essential cards). It's a real shame and really the game is very much being carried by the players. The fact there's seemingly a lot of people playing in spite all the current flaws, is the only reason this game hasn't been taken around the back and shot. If more people in my area played ANY other TCG at even similar numbers to YGO, I wouldn't be playing it, plain and simple. There are many more TCGs that respect your time and money far more, but as many have stated, nothing plays quite like YGO. But we're beginning to question if that's really a good thing or not.

TBH Zealantis might be the pick because Konami will want to cash in on Princess. Zealantis has been one of those cards where whenever it shows up, something unfair is happening. The only uses it's has IIRC is getting Raging Phoenix live and letting Marincess get rid of your field.

I saw this below, but wanted to put in my own comment: Ban Flamberge. 6 bodies + removal + future set-up is way too much for one card to do. Let the deck keep its consistency and other plays with Princess, let the deck be more like a puzzle to play around rather than the free overwhelming presence it currently has. If it still turns out to be too much once Flamberge is gone, then other hits may be needed, but Block Dragon on a mixture of crack, cocaine, and speed is way too much.

Boycott products & get a movement going & they WILL make changes. If the game is this bad, then dont give in to FOMO & stop buying the products. I don't think Oak is enough. The deck's grind game thanks to original, flamberge and princess is still incredible not to mention the deck has access to ostinato/fiendsmith/kash cards to help extend past handtraps. I can even think of people getting to flamberge via field instead of relying on 2nd eff of snake eye ash. Sure it impacts them but I think the deck would still be the best deck and would mean waiting another half year for a banlist to address it. I could be wrong but I don't think its worth risking I and many others would rather just guarantee the deck gets hit by either original or flamberge ban. I would rather flamberge since it keeps original as a splashable engine for other decks.

One of the issues with Konami is that instead of listening to the community to improve the game so more people would get introduced into it and make it better, they are more interested in trying to make a profit and pushing certain card and putting the game in a bad state to where they're actually losing money and potential new players. As for the banlist, there is no good answer without some people making an uproar. Personally I would target the troublesome cards as a whole and not a certain cards to make them unplayable. Whats probably going to happen is that top decks won't be targeted or have a minor card restricted instead of a ban. There's alot of good candidates to be removed from it entirely (possibly with a errata), some to be put on limited and semi-limited and some to be banned all together. Konami just needs to do a better job on this.

an OSS ban cuts 7 starters in the deck and makes bonfire a bad extender as poplar cannot grab oss anymore and only can go for temple into snake eye diabell for a body. sure you get 3 findsmith but you made a -4 in the trade, weakens the selene plays and the exention. Oak ban also works but cannot be the sole hit to the deck. Any other bans is just cope or utter destruction

as an unchained player i can usually easily beat the pure snake eyes diabelstar variant. the rescue ace and fireking varients on the other hand either have one too many disruptions in the case of rescue ace or one too many opponents turn extenders in the case of fire king. im not to worried about an sp little knight or a appolousa because its just going to get either triple tac stolen or negated. also although droll cant completly halt the plays it does hamper it. i play on master duel btw and the deck has difficulty playing through maxx c if it resolves at the right time if you wait until after they commit to a play to activate maxx c they have little choice but to play into it. otherwise you activate it too early they bill ether diabelstar pass or they will dragon 2 monsters in backrow pass and you get nothing so its important to to time the bug right. also im aware that big red unchained is at 1 outside of masterduel but in masterduel its at 3 so unchained can easily just extend through the board. also princess self floodgates them out of using nibiru untill after i get king wave ceazer on board so if i let him keep princess till last he cant even use it. i hate rescue ace unchained always loses to it and fire king is a toss up if i win or lose

Its better than a flamberge ban, but honestly oss into something like hydrant still just wins the game if not interacted with, as well as being hard to stop because there's a lot of extenders they could have. Granted there are a lot more bricks and awkward draws to have, and no bonfire into pop makes stopping witch harder to punish, but well you have the fiendsmith engine to make up for that and running a second oss isn't the worst thing. People also don't seem to realize how good rescue ace is at pushing through a board, ever since the last ban list you can actually push through a snake eyes board pretty reliable if impulse resolves turn one. I really don't find a world where rescue ace is the deck to beat to be healthier than snake eyes format, honestly its more frustrating because the main balance to that deck is just drawing awkwardly.

@@shawnjavery so basically we all can recognize that if they hit oss then the wanted package will be practically useless, which is a bad buisness decision by Konami. Also seeing as they are reprinting it in the mega tins means that we can probably infer that no parts of the package will be hit until a little bit after the drop. That is unless it gets out of hand with the fiendsmith package. Basically the main issue currently is snake eye. So that would probably mean that they will only hit snake eye specific cards rather than the wanted stuff. But you never know. I do agree that the wanted stuff is over powered but idk if that means Konami will hit it just yet.

Out of curiosity why is the Quick Play spell "Spellbound" not meta relevant for decks that play second but can't build a good first turn combo? (It turns off all summoning for the turn it's played besides normal, special summoned effect monsters.) I thought labyrinth would at least play it, but it's not seen in any meta deck format?😅

Jesse's hit with Oak is on point. There might be other slaps needed, but that's the #1 card to go for WITHOUT KILLING THE DECK (caps for emphasis since we have like 500 people thinking they have the original idea of banning Flamberge. Yeah, it's the most obvious to go after but some people prefer to fine tune decks without trying to kill them all the time)

I came back to the tcg after a 16 year hiatus. Bought the staples, found a deck I liked to play, but the feeling of the game changed so much it was barely recognizable, one card combo where boards became unbreakable, hand traps that stop my turn mid play, and then matches that literally lasted 5 min ... just lost the fun for me, whether this is a I need to "get good" at the game idk. But I hope that they can make the entry into the game more friendly to new players soon or they will eventually run out of players. The saddest thing I saw were kids 8 to 9 coming to play losing to 25 to 30 year old men and never coming back. Like it is a game, let's be kind to the new players just a little?

Guess I lucked out as a kid cause the card shop I went to when I only knew about the game through 4kids was really good at treating new players (especially kids) well. They would always let me win one game a round and tell me kindly what I did well and what I didn't and how to improve. One time they even rearranged the brackets cause I got matched up against one of the best players in the area so they put me up against another kid. Good times

Imo no. It plays enough awkward draws its never going to be tier 0 in rep. The deck has a high ceiling but you draw some unplayable hands, and a lot of hands that don't quite do what you'd want them to.

Banning oak would be an attempt to just cripple the deck, though it wouldn't really do so in the way you would think. It would basically make the deck run two to three 1 ofs, 3 Diab, 3 Foam, and even more handraps/board breakers with the focus would be to dump flam in grave to trigger is effect to plus. Literally the only decks that would gain favor over oak being banned are decks like Kash or anything that prevents stuff from hitting the grave or activating in grave, decks that already give it trouble. The cards that would be best to hit are its search cards so the snake eyes player isn't playing basically a 20 card deck. I play tf out of Snake eyes. Its a solid deck for sure. But its far from unstoppable, especially when everyone is building their decks with the snake eyes matchup in mind. With most builds focusing on the 1 card combo, limiting the ways to get said combo would force players to build more rounded variations of the deck

I think the player base is happy the best player in the game has a similar ideas that we have, but Snake eyes is an issue, but still having yubel with have super poly and nightmare pain basically beat anything regardless, but as a semi budget player, I do think they will hit diabellstars and posters because they have been out for a year, that or they will reprint them in the tins which is my hope! But yea shifter and floodgates kinda need to go and some how to address all these other decks (which I love to play) which are 2 card combos just insta lose to 2-3 handtraps and we need to find something to be done about that tooo.

I've said the same thing about Oak before but I also think hitting Zealantis would be a good hit. Snake eys has a great grind game but they never have to use it because they always have access to Zealantis OTK, which got even better with raging phoenix. Take Zealantis out and it's suddenly much harder for the deck to just up and kill you off like nothing. A Hita hit would also be reall nice for lowering their power level. You ashing them suddenly isn't engine for them. Lots of options on the table. Just hit SOMETHING lol

I really like your opinion, although personaly I liked Oak because it ment safe play arround play, instead of the greedy all in. But if it has to go it has. I was just thinking, why doesnt anyone recommend Flamberge to 1 at least. I guess its bannable to, and I didint follow the new lines when SE Diabelle got released, but doesnt SE use 2 dragons often in the combo?

Next archtype or new snake eye cards should have to send a card from you hand to snake eye summon from deck or hand, using the field leaves you a chance to keep hand trap i dont know this game is out of hand, every deck left omni negates behind and floodgates to every deck has 1 card combo starter plus gas like what the heck

I absolutely think a Princess ban is the best we can hope for currently. No Princess makes the deck struggle more to get into link 4s, takes away a disruption, and further hits recursion. It also kills the Fiendsmith engine as a starter for SE because you’d need to use Princess to revive Ash dumped by Beatrice. Still lets it be splashed elsewhere and SE can still use it as its own thing, but Engraver won’t be a 1 card SE combo

You don't see Apalousa or IP getting hit because they were reprinted in RA02? They reprinted Baron in RA01 FINALLY making it affordable and they banned it right away, that was pretty much the main reason I quit the game

The slight difference here is that Baronne and Borrel were banned 5 months after their reprint, where it's only been 2 since Appo and I:P had theirs. Unless Konami has decided that it's already done selling RA02, I think those two are probably safe this list, but will be in danger for the autumn list.

I iust went against this earlier and I wasnt even mad at that point. I was just question why they thought it would even be fair at that point. Snake eyes boards were already powerful and with that its basically a low investment deck that can still whip out tons of one cards while running a lot of handtraps. At this point ban flamberge or the princess.

I think Oak is not the correct hit. Especially afrer the ocg list was revealed. I believe the way to contain the deck is wanted and Witch to 1 and ash to 1. Make them play more original copies and Poplar and by doing this we weaken Bonfire as an extender. As for the fiendsmith stuff..... -.... Konami is making it impossible to balance anything. 3 months from now Beatrice to 0. After the previous hits make the deck have zero access to gryphon lines and ftks and by hitting Witch and wanted the deck now looses to hts and breakers equally. And with it weakened you can mix them. It's keeps it alive as an engine by not hitting Oak and allows the flame play to still be possible without doing the most. Appo is fine. Masq is fine. What is not fine is Witch + wanted allowing it to stroll through Droll & Lock Bird. My hits force poplar in to searching original and Bonfire to loose to Droll even harder.

I think an Oak ban definitely brings down Snake Eye to a reasonable level in the current format. However, Fiendsmith just prints bodies and almost entirely mitigates the hit because you can simply send Flamberge with Beatrice, revive it, etc. Also, Oak definitely feels like an underpowered card compared to other cards on the banlist, but it’s all contextual. That’s more subjective anyways.
