I found this song on a scratched out list " Songs for my funeral " when going through mom's things immediately after she died in 2020. I had never heard of this song before and I didn't know mom listened much to modern music, she was 78. So I got on line and played the song. Brought tears to my eyes and I never cry. Yeah, it had to be the right song....described her pretty closely. I had the funeral home buy the rights to use on a picture slide show for a future " celebration of life " memorial that unfortunately never happend due to the Covid risk at the time. Mom didn't die of Covid, but her numerous health problems finally took their toll. I used this song at the beginning of the slide show as I assembled the photos in historical order from child to old age. My mom was a beautiful woman when she was young and that song plays during those years. It's the only song that is a non religious one on the slide program, but the lyrics are what really describe her to a T. My father died back in 76 suddenly and mom never remarried. She really became a modern independent woman. She had to become tough to raise me alone as that, at the time was not a norm. We had our differences over the years and I inherited her stubbornness, but even though her body became weak and frail, her resolve was there and she still had a pretty sharp mind. Her existence made a difference in the world...perhaps a very small one,but for me and those that knew her, she was an original. I love you mom.

I also remember when Clean Bandit won and Jess was on the stage with them. She also did some photos with the award in her hands. So technically she won it. The pages about all awards report it as a Jess award too.

As a black young man, this song is so moving to me! I look at so many people via social media and I say, “wow, there are some good looking people out there” and I wish sometimes I was one of those people but throughout the years, I’ve learned that the fact I love me is enough. So, this song is definitely in my anthems folder! Raw and honest.

ever since the start of year 8 i’ve worn makeup. i started feeling like it was a waste of time because everyday when i got home, most of it was wiped off. i felt super insecure. last week i finally had enough. even tho my skin was still terrible i went a whole week without makeup. to school. i know some people might think nothing of it but for me it was a huge step. the reason i did it was because of jess. i listened to this song on monday and from tuesday to friday, i didn’t wear makeup. no one seemed to even noticed. one guy was rude but he’s always rude to me for no reason so i tried to not let it get to me. i just felt more confident i guess. please don’t listen to society, be yourself, wear what you want. don’t worry xox

As someone who wakes up every morning hating the way he looks, I find this song incredibly moving. People seem to forget that men have insecurities too, probably because its considered feminine or even weak to talk about it (Note that I'm not saying feminine and weak are the same thing, I'm saying that men talking about their insecurities is seen as weak.). I hate the phrase "Man up", it implies that men should be ashamed to express or even think about things like insecurities, and I feel like its a leading cause of mental health issues in males. That we feel ashamed or unable to talk about our problems for fear of looking weak. Sorry I kinda went off on one there, just think its an important topic

I was just about to do something stupid to myself. Made my goodbye video and everything. But then out of nowhere this song started playing. Her voice singing almost everything I've been feeling and then I remember that I'm not the only person going through things in my life. I just want the pain to fade. I feel lke nothing ever changes and I get stuck making the same horrible choices over and over again. Justifying it with pain that I felt as a young woman. I'm tired of letting my pain define me. I need to be myself. I need to feel worthy. This song put all the pain in a fun perspective with such an upbeat song. I just want to feel beautiful and worthy. If anyone has ever felt or is feeling as low as I am at the moment... please remember that you're not alone. You are beautiful .. You are worthy.

Here are the lyrics. ENJOY🤗🤗 [Verse 1] I won't wear makeup on Thursday I'm sick of covering up I'm tired of feeling so broken I'm tired of falling in love Sometimes I'm shy and I'm anxious Sometimes I'm down on my knees Sometimes I try to embrace all my insecurities So I won't wear makeup on Thursday 'Cause who I am is enough [Pre-Chorus] And there are many things that I could change so slightly But why would I succumb to something so unlike me? I was always taught to just be myself Don't change for anyone [Chorus] I wanna laugh, I wanna cry Don't want these tears inside my eyes, yeah Don't wanna wake up and feel insecure I wanna sing, I wanna dance I wanna feel love inside my hands again I just wanna feel beautiful [Post-Chorus] Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful [Verse 2] I'll wear my sweatpants on Thursday And I'll drink sloe gin from a can I'll build my own independence I don't always need a man You know sometimes I feel lonely Could do with the company Oh, I get high when I'm down But you know that's alright with me So I will do nothing on Thursday Sit alone and be [Pre-Chorus] And there are many things that I could change so slightly But why would I succumb to something so unlike me? I was always taught to just be myself Don't change for anyone [Chorus] I wanna laugh, I wanna cry Don't want these tears inside my eyes, yeah Don't wanna wake up and feel insecure I wanna sing, I wanna dance I wanna feel love inside my hands again I just wanna feel beautiful [Post-Chorus] Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful [Bridge] I won't wear makeup on Thursday 'Cause who I am is enough [Chorus] I wanna laugh, I wanna cry Don't want these tears inside my eyes, yeah Don't wanna wake up and feel insecure I wanna sing, I wanna dance I wanna feel love inside my hands again I just wanna feel beautiful [Post-Chorus] Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful OF COURSE IT IS COPY AND PASTE😉😉😉

Sitting in my PJs screaming and crying to this song after a hard day at work. I've recently put a lot of weight on due to over eating with my depression and hate how I look and won't even look in mirrors. All I've ever wanted was to be skinny and beautiful

I love this song. Being someone who has acne, thigh fat and a slight belly, who was always bullied for it. This song helps remind me I should feel comfortable in my skin, not become the way someone else wants me to look.

*When I first heard this song I felt like breaking down and crying because I could relate to most of these things, this song always motivates me seeing how one day I'll be able to change myself and become more confident, I can relate to when she says she wants to feel beautiful. I hope one day I can look at the mirror and point out all the good things about myself instead of all the bad*

Thursday Lyrics [Verse 1] I won't wear makeup on Thursday I'm sick of covering up I'm tired of feeling so broken I'm tired of falling in love Sometimes I'm shy and I'm anxious Sometimes I'm down on my knees Sometimes I try to embrace all my insecurities So I won't wear makeup on Thursday 'Cause who I am is enough [Pre-Chorus] And there are many things that I could change so slightly But why would I succumb to something so unlike me? I was always taught to just be myself Don't change for anyone [Chorus] I wanna laugh, I wanna cry Don't want these tears inside my eyes, yeah Don't wanna wake up and feel insecure I wanna sing, I wanna dance I wanna feel love inside my hands again I just wanna feel beautiful [Post-Chorus] Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful [Bridge] I won't wear makeup on Thursday 'Cause who I am is enough [Chorus] I wanna laugh, I wanna cry Don't want these tears inside my eyes, yeah Don't wanna wake up and feel insecure I wanna sing, I wanna dance I wanna feel love inside my hands again I just wanna feel beautiful [Post-Chorus] Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, oh I- Oh-oh-oh, I just wanna feel beautiful

Thursday only? I do that shit everyday!! Yes to freedom. I’m ME and I don’t change for NOOOO ONE and oh how happy and relived I feel to just be pure clean and accepted. I’m sad I spent all my 20s trying to look beautiful when all alone i was already beautiful and I don’t need to pay penny. Priceless feeling. Love you Jess !!! PS as soon as I accepted my self my Prince Charming came. It is the last thing I expected and I didn’t have a single piece of make on and my hair was horrific when I first met him and he told me I’m Beautiful. Jess knows the truth?!!

The most beautiful trait a girl/woman can have is confidence in herself. Too many young girls and young guys today are suffering from depression, self-esteem issues etc. For years celebs trotted out the old saying "learn to love yourself" while simultaneously promoting beauty products and fashion's which everyone had to have and if they didn't they felt less than everyone else around them who did have. How can people ever hope to have a meaningful and real relationship when the initial attraction is based on vanity and falseness. I'm happy for you though.

Since I was a day old I have never felt complete, till I found jess. Ever since makeup has never been an option on a Thursday and I live by it. My daughter (glynda) has never worn makeup on a Thursday either and that’s how it will be for the rest of our lives. We have a ritual where we wear sweatpants, drink sloe gin from a can and it simbolises building our own independence. I will continue to do this and I hope Jess continues to influence every other person on this earth. I even had to put my second child (glyndoo) up for adoption because they didn’t take part this is how much I care. Thank you for listening, glenn x
