Jess Glynne - Take Me Home [One Shot]

When I wrote this song I was fighting with myself, trying to understand why I was so broken, why I had been left and was hurting so badly, why I felt like I had lost something that I would never have again and why I felt like it was all my fault. I felt like I was never going to be happy again. I signed my record deal and my dreams were coming true but the person I loved wasn't there and it didn't hide the fact that my soul was unbalanced.
I wrote this song when I was angry and nothing felt right. I didn't know how to get past the emptiness I was feeling. Once I wrote it, I put it to bed and didn't listen to it for months and months and I slowly started to take on my life with a different perspective. My friend said to me give yourself space and time and it's true, that's all I needed. I was reminded of who I was as a person by someone who cared so much and wouldn't let me break. I was given an opportunity to make an album and have a career in doing what I love, which is something I had worked so hard for, for so many years, and I wasn't going to let a broken heart defeat me. Hope through heartbreak was my new perspective on life. I re-visited this song and edited it. I changed it from one about me feeling sorry for myself and a person who didn't even deserve that much from me, to one about the person who caught me before I hit the ground and made me believe in myself again. This song was written to you. Not to the person who broke me in so many ways but the person who helped save me from drowning in something that wasn't worth drowning in. This song is now about being grateful and taking advice from the people who care, and who are there for you when you are in need. So thank you.
I wanted to share this version of the video because this is all this song really needed to show. I was naked and alone in a room with a camera, bare, fragile and empty. There was a time when I was all of this and couldn't have felt any worse in myself. When I stood there and sang this song on the day we made the video, stripped of everything, I was reminded of all that I had gone through. I couldn't have been prouder of how far I have come and I couldn't have been more grateful for the people surrounding me in my life. Jo'lene had this idea for Take Me Home and it couldn't be more perfect, I can normally picture how I want things to go for my videos but for this one I couldn't and she could. Both Jo'lene and Declan made this video and took full creative control of something that I was incapable of envisioning because it was so personal. I can't thank you both enough for something that represents both me and my song so superbly. To the person who told me time would heal me, this song is for you.

A few years ago I was in a coma due to a suicide attempt, when I was released I moved back in with my mom. A few weeks after I was released my mom was driving me to the shop and this song came on the radio, we had to pull over we couldn't stop crying. My mom was the one who took care of me - I literally came home. She is the one who wouldn't let me break. Lying in a hospital bed feeling exactly as you described, naked, fragile, and lost. With nothing but the promise of love and hope I crawled my way back to the living. Thank you for your song, your words. Jess Glynne I don't have the words to describe this song. This song touched my soul in so many ways and like you, I was a very broken torn down person at the time I found this song. I was lost in addiction and had lost my husband to another woman and felt like trash and that no one wanted me and that I wasn't worth it anyways. I became a danger to myself and my children. I gave them to their father for 2 years while I almost ended my life 2 times. I went to prison and this was a song that I had on my playlist at all times. Now when I listen to it, it reminds me of where I was and how far I have come and how much I have overcome. You are an inspiration, a beautiful and courageous woman! Thank you for creating just beautiful songs that help to lift my spirits.

I literally cry everytime I hear this no matter where I am. It makes me think back to when my dad passed away and my boyfriend was left to pick up the pieces of me and try to put me back together again. Now we are engaged and due to be married in a few months. I want to play this at the wedding but I'm afraid I'll be reduced to a bubbering mess in front of everyone. One week and two days ago I met my dad for the first time in 42 years. He left my mom when she was in her first trimester and she had to put me up for adoption. I was broken my whole life but I was raised in a loving home. I was never the same inside because I didn't have an identity. When we met, his eyes were shallow, his face was blank. I had this hope he would tell me nice things and be proud of my life and see my kids. Not the case. All he did was ask me if I ever was mad at him. I said no and that was all he wanted. Sorry for what you went through but I feel your pain as my dad also left my mom before I ever knew him. I was raised by my mother though. I only met my father once while growing up at about age 12 since my mother would not have anything to do with him or tell me anything about him. That visit only lasted about 5 minutes. He was hiding behind my sisters house and she introduced me to him. It was kind of a numb feeling. Didn't know what to think about him. After leaving home and going in the service we spoke a couple of times by phone while I was overseas but he has since died. I never really got that big of chance to have many of my questions answered. What I have since learned is that as a child he watched his father get hit by a car while crossing the street and die. I can only imagine what he went through as a child growing up. Grandmother told he had emotional problems seeing his dad die and not having a dad growing up. He became a very troubled child. I kind of understand now that sometimes our parents didn't have any better of a life than us growing up so it ends up affecting us as well. They are just not prepared or may never be prepared to be a parent. My mother also grew up never knowing her father so I'm sure I was affected by her lack of emotions or the anger she showed us a lot. I learned I would not find my happiness or purpose in life through my parents. I believe we all have purpose here on this earth and that is to love others and that love will be returned in ways that you can not imagine so look forward to what life you have left and show as much love as you can and you will find all the love and happiness you ever imagined in return. Try to get to know your father regardless of your first impression if you have a chance and you may better understand why he is the way he is. I wish all of us children who have went through this would learned to set aside any anger and hate we might have and embrace others especially family. It will never be perfect but it will help to heal our soul.

My dad left when I was baby and started a new family. I've heard stories how he used to beat my mom. I did meet him a couple times in my life when I was a kid and he beat me each time as well. I don't really have any harsh feelings towards him as of now since I don't really know him. I don't ever think about him and I'm happy without him. He did have brain cancer a couple years ago and he messaged me just once asking to come into my life or something. I never responded. I think if I ever mattered to him he would message me more than once but it seems like he just doesn't care. He's never been there since I was a baby. Don't know how he can leave a baby there and go and love his other new kids. He's just a heartless deadbeat to me.
