I think it was just bad timing. Pop Country music just wasn’t that popular at the time. The late 90s early 2000s was all about pop, r&b, and hip hop music. Pop country music didn’t really become popular until after her time. And even if she did a total pop crossover like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry did in the late 2000s, there was so much competition because the music scene was over saturated with pop stars and Britney Spears prototypes. Maybe if her music had come out in 2008 or even 2006 she would’ve been more successful.

Unfortunately her record label went bankrupt after her last album in 2003. Unfortunately a lot of singers around the same time as Jessica are no longer in the country music business anymore.

@@nathanbarger3449 Yup, and then she signed to another record label and recorded an entire new album, released the single "Everything" in 2008 and then that label shut down before she could even film the music video and the album shelved. I think that made her give up with music too. Two label closings, and two shelved albums. That would suck.

Oh this song is one of my most memorable songs from her - Love the way it opens with that instrument. Encapsulates her as a country artist for me here. Her Now album is her best work yet but her previous two had these nice ballads of romance that are undeniably sweet. This is where I see a great coming into age for her as she transitions from teenager to a young woman here.

I really like Jessica Andrews, her music, and this video, although I always wondered about mosquitoes. This video reminds me of a college couple I saw who were out on date. The woman was all made up, perfect hair, makeup, a very nice cute dress and heels. The guy was wearing crudely cut off and faded Levi shorts, a grungy t-shirt, dirty sneakers, and looked like he hadn't shaved or combed his hair in a week. And he was taking her to some strip mall pizza place. There were definitely some mixed expectations going into this date.
