I don’t know if I can explain this well but my daughter has a rare brain disease and it was so refreshing to listen to someone I can relate to but not have the entire subject be the heavy stuff. Often when I find other parents I can relate to all we talk about is really sad heavy stuff and this was hilarious, uplifting but also real and relatable. This was a special episode and I appreciate it!

I am slowly starting to realize this is the only video that I watch that points out their pronouns as an "intro" (of course we use that term loosely round these parts) As a huge proponent of using and informing people of your own personal pronouns I want to point out how truly amazing this podcast truly is for that very fact.

So im in my early 20's and queer and while I was still in college i felt a little confused about why i really liked dressing masc just as much as I liked dressing more femme. I felt like I should chose one or the other but within the last year or so I've just realized there isn't a need to chose, I can just do either whenever I feel like it. I think people still expect me to fall into one category or the other but fuck people's expectations, yk? So I'm more comfortable with it now though I still have my days where I still might hear what people might think in the back of my head.
@GnomieTheHomie2 жыл бұрын

I am a straight women but I hate feminine dainty looking clothes. I play golf and most female golfers wear skorts or dresses but in the last year, I started only wearing shorts and pants as a form of protest. Also bc women on lpga back in the day were forced to wear skirts. So I still see them as restrictive and only serving a purpose for men. It’s really hard to find women’s golf shorts, it’s almost like they want us to wear skirts bc every brand mainly makes skirts not shorts. I have always been this way. My mom never allowed me to dress how I wanted to dress bc and I quote, “she didn’t want me looking like a lesbian”. Who cares???? I would be in my softball uniform in high school at a GSA meeting totally confident and not caring what anyone thinks or if anyone assumed I was gay. I don’t care. I feel more comfortable around lgbtqia folx and always have. Then after my SA in college, I really started to dress more masculine and avoid any femininity. So the way you dress isn’t ascribed to any one sexuality. Unfortunately the world doesn’t see that; straight men still find more feminine women attractive bc they play the part to look the role for the male gaze, spending $ on hair dye and highlights and makeup and tans and Botox and nails. No thank you. I don’t even wear make up anymore.

i discovered you on tiktok and i've been binging your stuff lately and i like Jessica Kirson too so I checked to see if you'd had her on the pod- what a great surprise that she's not only been on but she loves you!! Hell yeah!! This was so nice to listen to. I hope you come back to Chicago soon, i wasn't able to see you when you were just here but i hope i can catch you next time! And I'm looking forward to listening to more of the episodes of the pod. i'm a bisexual lady getting married to a man next month (i know i know, another bi girl marrying a man, but he's the love of my life) and this pod makes me feel like i'm still part of the queer community, even though i'm also a gay virgin. I'm so glad I found your content. I love comedy and for years I would flip thru the stuff on netflix looking for a decent standup- I watched everything Ali Wong and Iliza Schlesinger and love Taylor Tomlinson- and then I realized there's female comics on tiktok and a whole new world opened up. So excited to see where you go from here- I'm waiting for the Netflix special!

I already commented this elsewhere, but if you want more parents on, I'd suggest Dear Greyson,/Alex Cloutier who escaped a marriage with a man and came out as gay after having a teen mom KZbin channel and who is knowledgeable in so many topics that have touched her life. She has also been a foster parent and is now a single parent. Also, these must have been commented a thousand times already, but Jessica and Claudia Kellgren-Fozard and Rose and Rosie are great lesbian KZbin moms. Jessica is Deaf as well and I know you are interested in the intersection between that community and the queer one. I do also see you having excellent chemistry.

As a 41 yr old bi/pan woman who's felt like I've been a cat w many lives, different chances & relationships etc, I still don't EVER want kids. U really need to think about if u are able to adult fully for yourself FIRST before adulting for someone else. U have to take ur mental health issues into account, as I did. (Wasn't my only decider but a big one) My entire family, on both sides, struggles w some MAJOR mental health issues & I never want to bring someone into this world who most likely will come out w something like that, as well as having a parent w those issues. U have to take those things into account cuz that prsn will have to live in this crazy, scary world. And being a parent doesn't stop when they reach 18 yrs old. The way this world is, put me off kids as well. Really take time to think about how every part of your life (& their life) will be affected & I'm pretty sure you'll be in a more realized place when it comes to whether u want kids. And pls, don't have kids for anyone else but u! GREAT EPISODE!!! 🤘🏻💜☮
@raapyna85442 жыл бұрын
I know you don't mean it like this, but for me, I don't think I will ever be fully able to adult for myself (I have some strong adhd signs and I've heard that that means my frontal lobe will never develop past 18 years) and I will never be completely done with having mental health issues, but I think it's unrealistic and unfair to expect that people who are disabled in that way don't have kids, or people who have kids never have any issues in those areas. Kids are not too good for this world, in that I don't think it would be doing a kindness for the kids in the world currently to be euthanized, so why would the next kids not deserve a chance in life? I've heard a lot of this 'I can't bring myself to bring another child to this horrible world' from young adults and I think it's second hand deppression. I think it's very unfortunate and I don't think it's reasonable or agree with it.
