Yeah I love how they fail to mention what their logic is for thinking bees would make anybody more inclined to buy jewelry. I would have been asking questions about that and caused them to sabotage me like they do with every girl that they don't want to win. I noticed that through the whole series they pretty consistently do photo shoots for advertising that makes absolutely no sense and they don't try to explain what they're logic is. They almost certainly do it to train the girls to be completely compliant and not question what's asked of them but it sure is cringey to watch...

I've seen an episode of ANTM in which Tyra had a private chat with each of the girls and among other things she asked them about their fears and then there was an individualised photo shoot with the topic of their phobias for each one of them. and the crew was like "as professional models you will have to be in situations you are uncomfortable with, blah blah" It made me so angry, as I am passionate about mental health and this is not how you help anyone, this is just further traumatising these girls. this is not even about show biz anymore. this is just straight up cruelty and showing off your power.

Why are so many people here so utterly clueless about bees?? Bees aren't hard to calm and they rarely just randomly sting for no reason. Realistically the girls could move around pretty freely and be in very very minimal danger. Also, as they pointedly mentioned, they used pheromones on the jewelry. Pheromones change the way bees behave. Essentially they not only attracted the bees to land on the girls but also made them feel as though they were in a hive surrounded by other bees. Pheromones mean home and comfort for them, which is why bees will build hives in places where hives previously existed and were removed. The pheromones linger and since their purpose is serving as an attractant bees will go to those places. Those bees could not have cared less that they were around humans.

@@bunnylacy2097 you have to sign off on things because say if I showed up to a shoot and they randomly decided to involve spiders they better be ready to pay for my therapy after exposing me to something I have a genuine phobia off. All the shoots you listed no decent photographer would randomly spring that on a model, it would need to be agreed upon, allergies need to be kept in mind as would risk of injuries. Models can even refuse things outside of that, no nude photoshoots, don't work with certain concepts that might clash with something like their religious beliefs, its why the client would need to discuss what the concept is/what they want beforehand. This show definitely created an incredibly unrealistic view of the industry and I guarantee it created models who ended up going ahead with shoots they weren't comfortable with.

As someone who works with animals (like, I have a MSc in conservation bio) I think it's fine to do photo shoots like these with animals AS LONG AS: 1. Everyone involved is comfortable being around those animals and the animals are well trained, so that no people or animals are at risk of being hurt. 2. They don't use dangerous exotic animals. So like... chill snakes, bees, dogs, etc.? I think that's fine. Animals like tigers that have a history of killing people even when "tamed"? Cheetahs, which get really nervous about everything? Not a great idea. I think basically... if it's an animal that's typically cared for using protected contact when they're in captivity (ie. there's always a barrier between the person and the animal) you really shouldn't be using them in photo shoots.
@novaflores65124 жыл бұрын
people are deadly allergic to bees and if one accidentally stung someone they could die or have a severe reaction. saw my mom almost die bc of a bee sting. has nothing to do with being "well trained"
@mirlambda4 жыл бұрын
@@novaflores6512 I also said everyone involved needs to consent to being in the photo shoot, obviously people who are allergic (or don't know if they're allergic) shouldn't be involved in a photo shoot with bees? In the case of this ANTM photo shoot, they also said they were using pheromones, which means the bees were probably swarming and very unlikely to sting in the first place.
@ericaoren47994 жыл бұрын
@@mirlambda how can the animals consent to being in the photoshoot?
@mirlambda4 жыл бұрын
@@ericaoren4799 I mean, if you wanna go down that route, how can babies consent to being in a photo shoot? For real though, if the handlers are doing their job right and using only positive reinforcement, you can't really make an animal do something if they don't want to. I work at a conservation org that does animal shows, and if an animal doesn't want to perform or seems stressed in any way, the handlers just... don't make them do the show. I'm not saying all animal handlers are like that, I'm not that naive, but all animal handlers SHOULD be like that.

I just discovered your channel and can't stop watching now. Love the content you're the sweetest and kindest to these poor models. Your insight made me realize how this show was just Tyra reenacting her Trauma and mistreatment in the industry on other models. A classic abused turned abuser type relationship. Tyra probably was told because of the time she started modeling, a lot of those things about doing whatever she is told and work when you're uncomfortable "or else" and that she had to maintain a positive and agreeable demeanor all the time. So she went to the extreme and forced these girls to endure the same.

A lot of these models have said that producers, during confessionals, asked them to say mean things about the other contestants, even tho they didn't feel that way. Also, some of their comments were picked up from other confessionals in order to make it seem like they're talking about something in particular, when they were actually talking about a different topic.
