In a couple weeks Elia will be going to the vet to have x-rays done on her body. Both her former owner and I are very curious to see the extent of the damage internally. I will save that for a separate video. Please go show the spotted betta on IG some love! I hope you all enjoy meeting Elia :)

So unrelated to Elia and her gorgeousness...when you dropped the dubia at the end a spider fell on my chest. Needless to say I threw my phone, jumped 20 feet in the air shaking all of me. So now I will rewatch til the end. Spiders belong outside, not on me!

I can't stop crying. That poor little gecko! She's been through so much. Some people suck so much! She also has the same patterns and coloring as my little baby Butterfinger, which hits me even more in the feels. I'm glad she has people like you and the @THE_SPOTTED_BETTA to look out for her and give her a second chance! Thank you for all that you do!

It sucks that her tail dropped but omg her little nub is so cute! So glad betta saved her and you adopted her! She's in good hands now! A local petstore called me recently and told me I could adopt a leo from them with mbd (I'd been to their store 2 months ago and was interested in the same leo but he was very sick then and they were treating him) they said they can't sell him and that I could adopt him! Ima go for it and give him a much better home then he currently is in! I'm very excited!

When are babies are sick, stressed or hurting it’s okay to cry. ❤️ I’ve been crying all day over my two dragons. My new baby dragon suddenly became lethargic so I rushed her to the vet today. Waiting on her to poop now so a fecal can be done. I only had her a few days. 😭 then because of my paranoia I brought in a stool sample from my oldest beardie & found out she had pinworms! (Her last fecal was just three months ago) My husband probably thinks I’m crazy because of the tears I shed over my pets, but they’re my babies too. ❤️

My heart can’t take this. Animals are truly taking for granted. They give us love they give us joy. They are so innocent and what do we do to them? Thank you and the spottedbetta so much for giving her a second chance. If only there were more people like you guys. Elia deserves so much. You are an amazing person. I really admire you. Best of luck❤️😘

Her little legs are breaking my heart 😭 I’m so glad you and her previous owner have helped her so much. A couple months ago I “rescued” a gecko from petco who was getting close to being emaciated. While he wasn’t as bad as poor Elia, but I don’t think he would have survived much longer. He is thriving now and is finally getting a fat tail! It’s amazing what good food( and SUPPLEMENTS!!) and a lot of love can do for these babies. 💙💙

I cried for the first half of the video, it was hard not to. Words are not enough to describe how sad and angry all the pain she went through makes me feel. It then cheered me up so much to see her eat so eagerly and regrow a new tail!!! What a strong beautiful girl she is! I wish all captive geckos in the world could have an owner like you, like me and like anyone who truly cares about them and makes an effort to give them the life they deserve!

I'm rescuing a 16 yo leopard gecko right now with mbd. It's heartbreaking. Just tonight I found her on her back, next to her hide and my heart sank. Luckily I knew she wasn't like that long because her last force feeding was an hour before she was found like that. But what if I never had checked?! These geckos are so resilient. Thank you for caring ❤️

I recently rescued a neglected female ferret 3 weeks ago, she was very very skinny and her former owner tried feeding her fruits😔 its sad that soooo many people get a pet because they think they look cool😒..needless to say shes doing amazing now! I just adopted my very leopard gecko about 4 days ago, he is already thriving in his new home! I’m so glad I found your channel because you helped me learn what I needed make his home wonderful for him! We’re still waiting on some greenery for him, but he’s got all his hides and a new heating pad and thermostat, which helped him have his first BM since he’s been here! He was in sand when I got him, but I immediately changed to reptile carpet, which I then ended up changing to non-adhesive shelf liner! Thank you for being so passionate, and helping to educate us on how to keep our babies healthy and happy! 🖤

That's why we ship them on cramped smaller containers. For some reason if the geckos are shipped out on bigger containers they super stress. And yes, they can loose the tail.

You are so right. A mammal would have died long before it got to Elias condition. Abused/neglected Reptiles end up suffering for longer than mammals under similiar circumstances. And that is just horrifyng. No pet should suffer neglect or abuse. We have them to nurture them. I will never understand

She has quite the personality, she reminds me of my own gecko. And the way she wagged her little nubbin was so cute! The beginning had me in tears, she looks so much like Sahyu, only with larger spots. Sahyu will NEVER wind up like that on my watch! I often doubt myself on if I am a good gecko parent, but this has made me realize that I am at least okay, and if anything I spoil her, lol. If only she would break her fast, but unfortunately, that is what I am going to have to accept as the owner of a leopard gecko. Her remaining dubias are pretty much grown now, so maybe by the time she is ready to eat again, they will have some babies.

Hello Jessica, you know me by now. Even though I know Elia is growing her ad8tail back I did cry with you. I felt just as bad for you too. I know how much you love your little ones. Just like I love mine. Everytime I watch a video of yours I have to fight myself to keep from waking one of mine up to hold them. But at least I have my bearded dragon, butterfly agama, and veild chameleon to love on. Actually Kenny the chameleon can be grumpy. That's part of his cuteness. Lol Thing is if I accidentally forget to shut his cage he eventually finds his way to me. Scared he is. He follows the sound of my voice. Oops the squirrels got loose again. Sorry🐿🐿🐿. How is the other leopard gecko doing that was rescued with Elia? I truly hope his is doing well too. You have a wonderful evening doing what you love and give Jakson a hug and treat for me. Jesus bless you and yours,Lin ✝️🐶🐶🐶🐶🐢🐦🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎💖🦒🐧🐲🤗

Jessica, for the calcium dish, use a bottle cap. I usually use either milk or gatorade sized because they're wider, but they are low to the ground. They are also cheap, and don't take up much space...my geckos use theirs religiously, including my blind baby.

People who show love, kindness and compassion to animals are very special people; you young lady are one of those people, so please carry on with your passion in life. Oh, and in my opinion you look purdy without your make-up, natural and kind looking. Great videos, thanks; and regards from England. before and after pictures affect me a lot. it hurts so much to look at an animal and know it was left to die. but it is incredible how they can bounce back! elia had a rough start but really hit the jackpot in the end, and is in the best possible place to be her best self ;u; i hope i can afford to do rescue someday. i'm lucky that the geckos i've taken in were easy to nurse back to health, mostly just underweight with stuck shed and toe loss, and pinworms, which my vets says rarely cause issues with leopard geckos.

I just took an my first leopard gecko, sight unseen, so I was unaware that he would have sever MBD. Immediately when I saw him I knew it was MBD, both front arms are twisted and deformed. He had clearly never been properly houses either, as he arrives with a single hide in a 5 gallon tank. It's been hard to find other geckos who are thriving with limited mobility so this was really comforting for me. My little Goblin now has a 20 gallon long and access to some much needed calcium.

I just gotta say I’m in love with your content and you as a reptile owner. You’re incredible. I just went and picked up a Crested gecko yesterday from a lady on Kijiji she said she believed it was brumating which I know cresties don’t really do if they’re kept in ideal conditions. ( I have 5 cresties currently) so I go and pick up this lizard and she’s so incredibly weak she can’t keep her head up, she can’t walk at all, she was covered in stuck shed, the cage she was in was tiny for a 4 year old female. The poor thing had her head shoved into cocofibre and her whole mouth was full of dirt. She definitely has the start of MBD as her jaw is miss shaped and her back legs are incredibly swollen. The woman I got her from is an animal rescue worker and I’m just incredibly disturbed by her care for this creature. People always take reptiles and treat them like decorations. I’m just appalled that anyone could treat this girl like this. The food the lady gave to me was expired for almost a year. 🥲 Currently feeding her a mix of multivitamin, calcium and D3 along with her CGD and she’s finally alert and able to swallow. She’s also had two baths to help with her dehydration. Thank you for this video, I have a lot of faith I can pull this little girl around with a lot of care and attention. 💕

They are so hardy that it makes the suffering so much longer. Truly heartbreaking. There was a turtle that got hit by a car and you could see inside of the turtle but it was still alive, we called the vet and he explained their metabolism being so slow meant death could have taken him days if not longer even with his insides exposed..which is horrible to think about. We brought it in to be euthanized humanely. I couldn’t believe it was even alive when I walked up to it let alone the fact it would suffer for days after potentially.

got my girls daisy (prof pic) and aster from a lady whose daughter had gone to prison, leaving them with nobody to care for them. lady was afraid of them but at least had the decency to post them on facebook instead of letting them starve. kept in a 18x18x12 exo terra together with a dusting of sawdust, dead mealworms, and feces. one hide, and an upside down ashtray i suspect was the water dish, with no water. got them fattened up and dewormed, removed stuck shed over the course of a week or two, and today they couldn't be doing much better. aster had lost all but one of her claws but doesnt seem to mind too much.

I think a big problem is how many pet stores are not educated on reptiles.I bought my first reptile a few weeks ago(bearded dragon).I did a bit of research but not a lot figuring i would get most of my information from the store where I buy it from.Well the first place I went to told me I only needed a heat lamp and they do not require a lot of care.I ended up not buying it from that store because I thought it was really weird that she only recommended a heat lamp and I remembered something about UVB light from a previous KZbin video I was watching. So I went to an actual reptile store (thank god) and they were amazing they told me about the proper tank size,UVB light,calcium,D3 etc.I now only go to this store when I need something for my bearded dragon and they always have answer to my questions. It is really sad to say but I think a lot of people get reptiles thinking “they are sooo cool” but end up getting bored of it because it is not like a cat or a dog.I personally really enjoy watching my bearded dragon and especially feeding him I absolutely love reptiles and I feel really bad that they don’t get the care they deserve.

I wonder why I’m 13 I have 2 Leo’s they are in cool and goods enclosures and very healthy ( thick tail, eats all the time, never dropped their tail, have no signs of impaction or diseases) then I see videos of older people have geckos and they don’t do pretty much anything right

That happened to my lizard apart from I didn’t get her shipped. I had been to a party for about 2 hrs and I just imagined she got it stuck as she was going behind her moss hide. And my other lizard came when she had already dropped it due to her owner being a druggy and she didn’t get fed often so her and my other one started fighting and she had lost it. (That’s what I’d been told)

I got my leopard gecko a month ago, a few days after she arrived, she shed her skin, resulting her not eating for a week, and I recently discovered that she caught something in her eye. Just a few days ago, she shed again. She hasn't eaten for a month now and looks really skinny. I really want to take her to the vet but at the same time, I'm terrified she'd get diagnosed with the stick tail disease. Could you help me by any chance? I don't know what to do 😭 *i'm very sorry for the long comment 💔

I'm not sure if u still visit these comments anymore but I just adopted a gecko that wasn't in the best of hands and was as far to the owners knowledge, received little to no calcium. I assumed this because of its crooked spine, dragging leg, and seemingly concave ribs. I've been looking around for the best treatments and have it narrowed down. Being someone who has dealt with this before, what would be your course of action?

Consult a vet and get him on liquid calcium supplement daily. Make sure he’s getting a good varied diet with gutloaded & dusted feeders - no wax worms if he’s being food picky.

Poor lil lady. :c Folks in charge of shipping are the worst. They don't care if there is a life in the box, they will toss it around just the same. My bearded dragon arrived in a box that had been damaged to the point that I could see into the box through the busted styrofoam. I was pissed but other than being a bit cold, my lil gal was okay.

So, regarding MBD, I have a genuine question (because I know they do this with people when bones grow wrong): If a vet were to break a leg on a gecko with MBD that had grown wrong and try to set it straight, would the leg regrow it’s bones straight? I know it sounds messed up but this is a genuine question, I know when people break something and it grow back in a wrong position, surgeons retreat the bone and set it in a cast to straighten it back, so I was wondering if something like that would work for leopard geckos! (And other cases of MBD in reptiles for that matter)

I don't think so because the issue with MBD is that the bones become misshapen over time. It's not as simple as a break and reset because it's not just one bone, it would be multiple legs.

I inherited my gecko from my youndee brother, who took very poor care of her, and I've been caring for her for a couple months, she developed MBD and I'm trying to reverse the effects but I'm struggling, do you have any tips?

Offer liquid calcium and seek out the experience of an exotic vet. They can clue you in on the gecko’s condition far better than I can
