Hey angels happy Monday! Finally we're talking about the jessie lee trip. I just want to say real quickly that you have every right to feel your emotions fully, your feelings are valid, its ok to be upset at things, society, people, etc that have hurt you, and no you're not a bad person for expressing yourself and your needs. This whole video is a lot so if it's too much PLEASE don't feel like you have to watch it. Take care of yourself first. I'm thoroughly upset about Jessie's downline. I think they are too scared to speak up because this isn't normal for anyone (in MLM's and not in MLM's) to do to people they "care about".

This was way worse than I thought it would be. Thank you for sharing this, it really shines a light on how much she values her downline. This didn't prove anything but how blind these followers have become, and how little she cares about the safety of her team. This could have ended SO. BAD. This was genuinely upsetting.

Litigation Paralegal here: You are correct that any potential waiver for this trip would be invalid based on JLW's words in this video. A waiver MUST contain SPECIFICS of the activities and potential dangers that could occur. Lacking specifics on a waiver makes it deficient and therefore unenforceable, which would mean if a person suffered damages because of the activity, they could file suit against JLW and other trip organizers. It's more complex than this quick explanation but the gist is that based on JLW's description of the events in her videos after the fact, IF she had people sign a waiver, either she lied in her videos and the participants knew what they were getting into OR the waivers were unenforceable (JLW would not be protected by it). Or also likely there were no waivers and she said there were after the fact because she was trying to backtrack and cover herself. She does that a lot when called out. It isn't INFORMED CONSENT if you aren't first fully informed.

When I was an insurance agent, I had a class on insurance waivers and learned exactly this - they need to be specific. Soon after that, I went on a ghost hunt in an old hotel and the waiver they had us sign was a joke - it was so generic.

She came to my country, which has been working on our bad reputation, chose one of the most beautiful locations we can offer. Brought people over, and showed them a terrible time. She could have shown them how local shop owners are very welcoming, personable, and warm to secure sales in a VERY competitive market. Showed them the good places to take their precious inta pics. She also chose one of the hardest climates, since that region is: sweltering hot, has a harsh desert, very dry environment, wild life that can be dangerous if not taken seriously. She could have gottem them lost in a really arid climate, dehydrated, and potentially died to elements. She made it all about herself :/ I know it might sound kind of selfish, but I don't want foreigners to see Colombia and feel negative emotions anymore. Now that group might just never come back even in leisure time, and coastal regions here depend on tourism.

I really really hate this too. Not only did she treat colombia like some rain forest boot camp she didn't let anyone appreciate the culture and environment. She’d have caused me serious injury. I took part in a trek of The Great Wall of China. I trained for nearly a year and was fully prepped by the trek leader and guides on things like terrain and keeping hydrated as number 1 priority. We had a doctor in our party. Day 1, the altitude and heat got to me and I needed medical attention after I threw up. Turns out that, despite my training, the conditions triggered a violent migraine. Nothing could have stopped it. And these people were told they’d be out for 2 hours. SMH.

Jessie Lee is so privileged and out of touch that she doesn’t even consider that some of the women on her team might have health issues that could make this extremely dangerous for them. So many people appear fine on the outside but have health issues or injuries that could make this hike a nightmare. A true leader would know their team well enough to prepare for these cases and to properly prepare their team for this activity. You can challenge people and push them while also preparing them properly.

Diabetic here! If her blood sugar was at 243, that’s very high - the candy bar she had likely overcorrected (if she was taking it because she thought her blood sugar was low and didn’t check beforehand or dose with insulin, which she likely wouldn’t in that situation). All she’d need would be a little bolus of insulin and some activity - at least in my experience. Obviously everyone’s illness manifests differently, just speaking from my own experience. Edit to add: I worry more about her if she’d continued for the entire trip, because the heat could have denatured the proteins in her insulin and made it less effective or not effective at all, and if she didn’t have enough snacks to make it if her blood sugar hit a low.
@JustToSaveYou
@JustToSaveYou Жыл бұрын
The heat could have also caused her blood sugar to go higher than she expected due to dehydration, so she likely did what would have worked at home and didn't know the heat would change anything.

I assumed she ate the extra sugar thinking she would need it for the extra activity. Since I was thinking more along the lines of drinking tons of water and sweating would pull more sugar away causing her to bottom out. Any experience I've had with diabetes (type 2 usually) has been elderly folks in long term care in Indiana so they weren't usually out in over bearing heat and humidity. I'm sure I was taught this in school but stuffed it to the back of my brain desk lol. Thanks for sharing, learn or relearn something new every day.

I'm new to this,only been going thru testing my blood sugar's for the past few months. I was also given some urinox sticks and I have to check for ketones in urine too if it's too high. Have any of u being advised to do the same? I would have thought ketones would be dangerous to us bcos high levels of both is a medical emergency. It's shocking to me that she could have actually killed people and wants to play victim if u say owt to her.

@@Ammo2Ammo Being in ketosis and having diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) are two different things, albeit they have things in common - ketones in the urine. DKA is what is dangerous for you. Being in ketosis from eating low carb or very low carb is different. (Please consult your doctor. I am not a dietician or physician, just a person with T1D for 36 years who has bad BG spikes from eating carbs, especially wheat.) And drinking a ketone drink is completely unnecessary.

As someone who also has asthma (heat and exercise induced specifically), I resonated with your words. I go to the gym 5 days a week and I grew up extremely active (martial arts being my main one). That doesn't change the fact that my lungs suck, especially when heat & exercise are mixed together. Her dismissiveness of people's medical needs is extremely concerning to me. It shows me (even more) that her concern is not her leaders, her concern is how she believes they reflect on her. And as a counselor, that hits so many red flags.

What I hate the most about this whole situation is the fact that my country (Colombia) was dragged into this. I've seen some people making a lot of assumptions about the tour guides that were involved, some very far from true statements about safety issues (not that there weren't a lot of concerning stuff happening, but I've seen people talking about the possibility of being kidnapped by mafias and things like that) and just in general a lot of stuff that shines a terrible light to a country that has spent decades trying to stay away from stigmas and bad reputation. She specifically says she lied to them, then complains they didn’t listen to her when she dropped hints about what was really going to happen. That person who ate that candy bar probably checked their sugar, saw that they were low and wanted to get it back up fast. Because she wanted to be able to participate on this walk that SHE WAS TOLD would only be 2 hours. She was not prepped properly on the situation and therefore did what she had to in the situation Jessie Lee INTENTIONALLY put her in unprepared. Being prepared and having people close to me who always know where I am is what has saved me multiple times. While my condition is not life threatening, if I don’t recognize the signs I could be put in a life threatening situation (like if I’m driving or out in the middle of no where), along with this I’m at a decently high risk of stroke at 21. I’ve also taught belly dance for years!! I’m pretty certain I could drop her to the floor with some of the work we do in tribal fusion!! 😂 Nor does this girl understand if people have allergies! Some people don’t even know if they have them! So what if sushi girls throat started closing 🤷🏼‍♀️ this girl would be standing over her degrading her! As a instructor of physical arts it should be logical to understand anatomy and health if their going to be some sort of “guru” good lord, I hope she never has children!

My husband took one look at her and said "yeah, I could have told you she's crazy." I have I take many medications and use ice several times a day due to degenerative neuropathy. If I didn't know we were staying out all night I wouldn't have any of that and I'd be in serious trouble and incredible pain. There are times when diabetics need to consume sugar, as a friend of mine explained to me. I find it interesting that she admits she knows nothing about diabetes and then a minute later in the story says that she's yelling at a diabetic for eating a candy bar and calling it "contraband." (Also, you say that word in Colombia and it means something else, I have family who live there and we've made many jokes!) Also, YOUR BODY WILL NOT REABSORB URINE!! It is WASTE! If she doesn't know that, she had no business anywhere near other people in this capacity.

This is insane. If I were on this trip, while I could easily do a 2 hour hike after working on cardio for a few months (I work on walking months before Dragon Con so I can not spend the whole trip in the hotel and miss the convention and still miss a good bit when I go), I physically wouldn't be able to do this hike. Not only that, if I had a POTs flare, with the heat there, I would have passed out... With my transplant medication, being in the sun that long, even with sunblock, that is insane and could cause someone like me, a whole lot of problems. I avoid the sun for a reason. This is horrible and could have been dangerous.

As someone who lives in a hot state, I know how fast progressing and serious heat illness can be firsthand. People faint regularly from heat even with lots of water. Being active for hours in the direct sun for that long is NEVER a good idea. I'm sure a lot of these ppl are unfamiliar. When I have family visit, I always make sure they're safe. I have been on the floor before, heart racing, clammy, shaking violently, and feeling like I'm going to faint from a way shorter time in the sun. A lot of ppl come down here and are shocked that they can just feel really hot one min and the next have the worst sunburn and feel violently ill worried they might have to go to the hospital. People absolutely can die from this. As someone who now has thyroid issues, the heat sickness gets even worse for me. IF YOUR BODY IS TELLING YOU TO STOP, STOP IMMEDIATELY!!! There are so many illnesses where being active and outside for hours is not a good idea. It makes me sick when people have that "don't be a quitter" mentality over safety. The fact that people were on the floor, feeling ill and she was angry and didn't stop says everything. She may not know about diabetes but she knows about this, I'm sure

I know this is an older video but I only recently discovered this channel and HAD to comment on this one. I have an autoimmune disorder that is dissolving my joints. I look absolutely fine, and can handle short walks, but anything more than that (and especially any standing still for long periods) causes excruciating pain. Also, one of my meds makes me very susceptible to sunburn and heatstroke. If I went on that trip, it could have literally 💀 me or caused severe permanent damage. This woman is DANGEROUS.

My family and I have lived in Alaska ALL our lives. Two summer's ago my brother suffered from heat exhaustion. My dad and I had to drive 40 miles to go get him and his vehicle. He's no stranger to heat either just because we live in Alaska. He spent a year going to school in Florida and his body can handle it. My point is, even the heat in Alaska can get you. I couldn't even imagine being on the equator, that's a whole different level of heat.

Yeah... It kind of seems like experiencing mental/physical hardships actually leads to being *worse* off, not better off. I do not agree with the idea that it is necessary to become better. People perhaps have that idea because they want to not have their struggles be left in vain, which I can understand, but that can lead to an array of terrible decisions that will ruin you. An example I'd like to bring up is when someone told me that school bullying is a necessary part of life and that it helps people grow. I hate this idea. You know what else helps people grow? Having kindness be shared with you and receiving support. Some have said that they learned self defense because of bullying... but if your friend who loves you is being hurt by someone, even if you have not been bullied yourself, you would also defend them right? Anyway, thank you for the video Isabella, I hope the video was not too troubling to produce, we appreciate it.

When I got out of my abusive marriage it took a while for me to recognize that I'd been victimized because I didn't understand Narcissism or psychological harm in general. The word "victim" is just a noun that fits in some circumstances. It is not an insult. Scientology pushes that idea that calling someone a victim is an insult.

I said this on Chelsea's video too, but as a person who gets severely hypoglycemic and also has weird hip joint problems, if I was told a hike would be two hours, I'd prepare for two hours, maybe three just in case. I'd have to bring appropriate snacks and probably also sit to rest at least once. I love hiking but I know my limits, and if someone surprised me with a 15-hour overnight hike without me knowing? I would have no choice but to stop. No thank you.

I’m type 1 diabetic. Anything over 180 (in most diabetic cases) is considered high. And the higher your sugar goes the worse you start feel. Especially if you’re used to your “normal” being under 180. Every diabetic is different but doctors consider 243 high. The higher your sugar goes the more you are at risk for dehydration, vomiting, chills, cold sweats, and DKA (which can be deadly).
