Hi Jess, I enjoy so much your tutorials, they are full of tips and detail instructions, great job!!! As an avid seamstress I just wanted to mention something that I noticed on this tutorial, for pouches that they are going to be hanging from the wrist, the zipper always should be closing towards the side that has the wrist attachment, so in that way if the zipper it is not completely closed you have a better chance of not losing anything, since the opening will be at the top near your hand and not at the bottom, I hope I was able to explain myself properly. Cheers 😊

And my bobbin keeps getting stuck and like a whole mess of thread gets bunched up in the back of my project! I'm new at sewing so I don't know all the ins-n-outs of how the machine works or what's what. Can you help me???!!! I'm so close to finishing but the thick part of the sewing where i have to sew all around the lining and the outer fabric is where it keeps getting jammed. If you have any advice or things i can do to make the thread stop getting stuck, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! - Monica

Jess, I’m a beginner. I just started in May of this year. I love your videos and can’t tear myself away from them most days. Anyway, I was wondering more about your design thoughts. How do you choose your fabric prints? You always have some beautiful and cute patterns but you match up patterns and colors that I would never put together. But once you complete the project it’s just too cute. Do you have any tips on how I should look at patterns differently other than matching solid colors? Thank you for your time and teaching.
@OklaRoots4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the compliment Kesha! So I am such a fan of busy, bright and colorful fabric. I'll usually pull one print out that I'm just LOVING, and then I'll pull colors from that to use for the other parts of the bag. But I like to pull the color that is used the least in the print. Does that make sense? I find doing that really makes every part of the bag pop.

Hey jess ☺ it seems kinda silly to ask but in one of your future videos would you mind showing how to cut and square up your fabric. I attempted to to make your snack pouch and when I folded my fat quarter selvage to selvage it was uneven and so were my sides. Another great tutorial Jess! Sometimes when I start sewing on the little pieces (like the piece for the D ring or swivel clip) I get a birds nest when I start to sew. Do you know what causes this?

Shannon A Good tip. Start your sewing on a little scrap piece of fabric and continue sewing into the small piece. Then just trim off the little scrap to use again.
@OklaRoots4 жыл бұрын
I have the same problem Shannon! Lynn provided a great solution, and that is what I do as well. I usually start sewing on a scrap piece of fabric first, and then sew my bag following that scrap. I'll do this for almost every seam.
