Fun fact: The lead designer for the new design was Tyson Hesse, the guy behind Sonic Mania's opening, the Sonic Mania Adventures shorts and the Team Sonic Racing Overdrive shorts. He's also been an artist for both Archie's and IDW's Sonic comics.

Actually, I kinda think Jim Carrey's kind of a good fit for Eggman. He's definitely got the character's comedic, eccentric personality downpat. Dancing wildly to some rock music in his spare time is something I can definitely picture him doing. And of course, there are his temper tantrums for whenever he loses to Sonic, soooo... yeah.

Definitely! I'm much more open to it now but Jim Carrey is just so unique that it's hard to see him as another already iconic character BUT I think I'm now fine with accepting this other live-action version of Robotnik. 😊

I'm actually ok with Eggman being 90s Jim Carrey. I honestly don't think it's even too out of character, since Eggman is very much a comedic lunatic. Usually it's just a bit more subdued in favor of his villainy to progress the plot of the game. But compare Sonic X's Eggman (especially from the first two seasons) and Sonic Boom's (The show) to this one and you'll definitely see similarities.

It's amazing how much better Sonic looks. He's just overall more expressive, and he actually feels like Sonic the Hedgehog. The animators are amazing for remodeling Sonic for us after the mess that was his original design.

@@SirBelmerD I doubt it, especially considering they had teaser posters at the ready with the original Sonic design, so why go to all that effort just to do a fake out? Also, doing something like that is incredibly risky, especially as it was going to come out December time, when movies make the most profit, yet they pushed it to the beginning of 2020, where they get less money. No movie studio would give up a slot like that. That and you have ZERO evidence to support it was a marketting ploy, just like we don't, but its more likely they listened because they cared and by doing so, would make people happy.

I'm going to watch the Sonic movie opening night because it looks awesome. I liked the original trailer (minus the hideous design of Sonic), but with the new and improved Sonic my hype for the movie is through the roof now. Also, I predict there's going to be a lot of Jim Carrey-Eggman cosplayers for cons/Halloween/etc next year. Gives me Riddler vibes and I'm all for it. Great video, Just Jesss. 2:00 I've soloed board games before. TTnTT #ForeverAlone. 7:15 It happened because Hollywood (as usual) refused to listen to the people they bought a license from (Sega). It took us chewing them out to finally get their attention. Once they finally realized they screwed up they finally went back to the drawing board and made a design much closer to the actual games.

2 years later, (when the video was monitozed by KZbin (thank you KZbin)), and this is still the best reaction I’ve seen even AFTER the Sequel was released. (But only on Paramount+). The old one looked like a glorified DEEPFAKE of the voice actor of Sonic or something- all the way to ACTUAL CGI RECREATION of Sonic, complete with the fluffiness of his quills to boot. 👍👍(DOUBLE thumbs up). :)
