Thank you. Her staged repertoire was a balancing act between her unique voice type (a so called ''falcon), her personal choice (she said she had an interest in the unusual) and limitations imposed by her substantial physique. One can always dream about her (potential) Marschallin, Agatha in Der Freischutz or Marie in Wozzeck among many others. Your thoughts welcome.

Surely this is a role she could have sung in a staged performance but as I understand it never did.

She often sang the entire final scene in concerts, suggesting that it might've been a role she was interested in assuming, but i fear casting directors might not have thought she had the right look.

@@onigbajamo I'm afraid if she was white, they would have offered a role in this opera on stage. I'm sure there were a lot of roles that were never offered to her because she didn't fit the typical mold. So sad and unfortunate. Sadly, nothing in the opera world has changed since.
