Richard Strauss must have heard her in his dreams, and wrote all of his fantastic songs just for her. Nobody else could, and can ever perform, sing and feel those most beautiful songs better than she could. Every time I hear it, I can’t stop both smiling and crying at the same time. It feels like the most fortune to ever been able to witness such Beauty by hearing this.

I am of the belief that singing Strauss was the reason for which Jesseye Norman was born! Ms. Norman is impressive singing MOST of the classical lit., however, Norman singing Strauss? Beyond, BEYOND! Always sheer perfection. And "yes" the violinist is also very much in his element.

Impeccable German diction from a non-German singer, just as my friend Paul, from Berlin, once told me about Ms. Norman.
@chrst73463 ай бұрын
she actually did start her professional career in Germany, having been at first engaged for several years at Berlin Opera. It is told that she had her first appearance there as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, and in the second interval of the premiere already she had been offered a time contract… but yes, she absolutely did seize the occasion to impeccably pronounce German language, which by the way she did not only perfectly pronounce, but mastered totally… proof: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJO4q5Z7qdODiassi=lYaXRKSK2fXlgRS7 So she had such a deep dive in that language, that she knew all the layers of the poem’s meaning and was able to transport those through her singing… ❤

Oh my.... This is four minutes and forty three seconds of time suspended. She falters not once! How - HOW - did she do it? How did the orchestra do it? It exists and yet it does not. I have lived with the memory of this since first hearing it. It is what music making is all about. It is silence as a sound, that perfect stillness lived out through the measured motions of music. And He, behind all things, the Great FIrst Mover, Creator, Designer, every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of Lights, in whom is no darkness at all, but who inhabits Eternity and dwells in a the light that no man can approach. But HE has become EMMANUEL. God With Us. We could never, as created beings, forever bound in time and space exist where He is, touch Him, stand on the ground before him, so He came down to us in the very form of the creature He created, to dwell among us, His children.
