Well said Pete Beat. I'm a Boomer and prefer the 2000 version with Glenn Carter (saw the '73 version when it first came out). Not disparagingNeeley, just not my preference, and it is maddening that his "followers" feel he is the only one (chosen one) to sing that role. Everyone does it differently; for now, the 2000 rework by Tim Rice works best for me.

Ted Neely was great. WAS. As in was good in the 1970s. Oh, and newsflash to the Neely Nation: He is not actually Jesus!!! No matter what you think or what he tells you, it is simply not true. Kudos to Glenn Carter and anyone else who dares make the role their own, and really owns it.

I am totally amazed that everyone is enthusing over Glenn Carter (who is great) but not more so over Tony Vincent. I find his voice more nuanced and less booming. I am sure I won't win any hearts here by saying this, and I'm not being spiteful, but while this is well staged, it is badly directed. Less would definitely be more. But this soundtrack would be an amazing get.

the musicality theatricality for this number is better than the 2012 revival here they're all more in sync and in the 2012 one it was like a disco the dancers were out of sync this was good '73 is the best but this is really good

The guy playing Jesus has an amazing voice, but instead of acting, he is almost like repeating a choreography, he's actually doing EXACTLY the same he did in the movie version, and after watching Steve Balsamo, it's hard for me to like him because he looks so young for the role, and so "un-Christic".

@coolvids8416 жыл бұрын
Josie DiVincenzo I personally don’t like his high note in the song. It sounds like pure falsetto and lacks a lot of the power that other people put behind it. I also think that, in general, he tended to over act a little throughout the whole show and didn’t have a rock sounding voice. I’m not saying I want it to be crackly and gravelly but it’s too clean for a rock opera. Something like a Brendon Urie type voice is what I think a good middle ground would be.
