Jesus Commands Us to Go Armed

Jesus told his disciples to take nothing for their journey; that God would provide all their needs. But later, He told them to even sell their clothes if necessary to buy a sword to protect themselves.
The reason for the difference in the message is the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven had now been put on hold.

It’s the complete opposite of blindly believing something or someone. All throughout the Bible God talks about discernment. Jesus told his disciples, as they traveled the dangerous roads of their time to, to sell their cloak and buy a sword, the most lethal weapon of the day. Jesus also told Peter to sheath his sword in the garden. He didn’t tell him to throw it away, as he had to finish his journey to the cross, his last act of obedience to the father. That is not a breakdown of scripture. This is a faulty way of understanding God's Word, as scripture can not be understood by cherry picking 1 event out of the Bible and building a doctrinal teaching from it.......... God's Word says you must use the Whole Word of God and that scripture interprets scripture........ Many of false teachings have been caused by this cherry picking of verses.......... After the garden event there is not 1 scripture from Acts to Jude showing one disciple carrying or using weapons against other people.......... And those 1st century disciples were persecuted by being beaten, flogged, stoned, imprisoned, crucified, and exiled........ Not one fought back with weapons through all of that......... Read Matthew 5 as that is a very good teaching and is full of commands from the Lord..........

In the intertestamental period, the Macabees fought for their survival. Jesus recognized the Macabee's efforts as he attended the celebration of their victory by attending the feast of hanukkah. Murder is sin. The bible does NOT say don't take a life unless you are able to create life. Don't take your own life! Ask Jesus for His forgiveness of your sins and to be your Lord, God, and Savior. Be baptized in water in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and ask the Heavenly Father to fill you with God the Holy Spirit. Read the bible for yourself. I recommend reading the gospel of John first.

Thank you, brother. I'm a retired soldier, and this has been a struggle for me. I'm not afraid to die. My career choices made that an obstacle I crossed long ago. It has been much more of a struggle since I dedicated my life to Christ to understand how I deal with my training v/s what I understand in scripture. I have been placed in this position once since retiring, and I truly believe God took over the situation and led me to deal with it calmly. I've said that all along about that passage of Luke 22:36. Lord Jesus knew trouble was coming that night and his apostles would be in danger. They needed to show a few swords to scare off the mob that wanted to take them. So he meant for the apostles to use them in a defensive way but not an offensive way. Now..THIS is an interesting subject to talk about. My mom once gave me a book called "When is it right to fight?" And I can't remember the author but it also dealt with this. Been a while so ut's nice to be reminded of it. I stumbled across the channel, I suppose because I'm always trying to learn more about the word cuz it's SO fscinating the more you do, so I'm curious to see more of your view points. I'm ALWAYS up for fresh info from my brothers and sisters in Christ. Therein lies TRUE wisdom and it's just something you have to experience to understand. That wisdom is God given and we wouldn't even REALIZE if He handn't allowed us to know and that, my friends, is a BEAUTIFUL thing! It's not about religion or ritual. It's about REALIZING that Jesus is a REAL, LIVING PERSON that's ALWAYS there - just like another fleshly person. He's just on a much higher frequency so He's outside of our PHYSICAL visual spectrum which we only see about 6% of. Dogs and cats see infrared and ultraviolet respectively and are known to see..."things". Just because we only see 6% doesn't mean the other 94 don't exist! 99.99% of the atom is NOT empty space!! There's "fabric" there and a whole other world going on all around us and most don't even know it! This is scientifically sound and I've love to hear an athiest dispute that. All science does is reinforces what YOU AND I already know - that there's DEFINITELY an architect and I'm forever thankful that He's a good one! There's a certain beauty and elogance that come ONLY from God. No matter how hard we try, we'll never come close. A waterfall, a rainbow..a flower. From the largest galaxies to the smallest sub-atomic particles, His presence is there. His fingerprint and, there is no denying it! Amazing!

I don’t recall a single time after Jesus’s resurrection that His followers ever used any kind of weapon against anyone…and that is aaaall the way to revelation. Before we came to U.S. we lived in Middle Asia, lived through the civil war (1989), didn’t have any weapons and watched how Lord, many times, miraculously protected us and helped us safely exit the country without any documents on hand. (And no, we were not missionaries). There were times when our lives were in great danger, yet Lord delivered us every single time! Conclusion: when one has a weapon for protection, it keeps him off his knees, praying to the Lord, and somehow his faith shifts from the Lord to the weapon. The amazing thing is that when one has experienced Lord’s protection and guidance and felt His presence in scary situations, your mind doesn’t even go that direction, to get a weapon to protect yourself, you know that the Lord will. Food for thought: I don’t want to “send anyone to hell”, for that is not what we as Christians are called to do; it’s actually quite the opposite.

King David killed a ton of people because they would destroy the world. He also prayed constantly to the Lord during those times Also, Samson and others had to judge evil does and led to killing. We definitely shouldn't be violent, but if someone is gonna kill you and your family, it doesn't help God to just give up and die. I avoid violence because I hate it, but there's times when it can be quite necessary. Also, we arent his Apostles and much of the things he commanded them to do doesn't always apply to us unless we are doing the same exact thing. He also gave them certain powers to help as well and you don't see those powers in anyone today(except fakers)

I would recommend an old roman gladius, I've had one for atleast over 10 years and spilled no blood but my own by mistake, trying to swing the sword around in my youth and almost lost an eye. I've leared to respect such an item, and it has been more of a shield than anything in most ways. And it helped greatly to stop a break in one time, though again no blood was spilled, just the sword worked to ward off his spirit which must have had some illness. Well I can say they work greatly for self defense, just one cannot underestimate its ability or lose any awareness once in hand. Great video sir, Godbless

I can't lie; I get very annoyed when Christians wrongfully claim that God doesn't want us to bear arms or even protect ourselves with violence . My one question to them everytime is, "If someone were to come into your home and begin to harm your children and/or wife do you honestly believe that God wants you to only pray for them and asks them to stop?" .. and if they insist I'll point out that even if they were to call the police while hiding that they would be calling for armed citizens to come and handle the situation for them, using the threat of violence and potentially having to use it. It's asinine. Of course we are to submit to the government so long as it doesn't violate God's will but sometimes it seems that some make government out to be God, or what I call Godvernment. I don't think you are correct on this one. The justification that in those scenario's only violence wasnt the way because otherwise the crucifiction wouldn't have happened seems silly. God has countless of ways to let you escape, evade, all kinds of violence. There is seduction to chose violence when we get into a fearful position, and that seduction is dangerous. The origin of that seduction is not of God, it's a fearful spirit. Proverbs 3:31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

I believe it’s helpful to read the Bible in context, and this passage is a case in point. Verse 37 helps explain why “he was numbered among transgressors”. Only soldiers and criminals had swords, Jesus wasn’t attempting to build an army but “he must be numbered among transgressors”. Even in the garden He prevented Peter from using it to kill, and healed the servant’s ear. I do believe in Biblical non resistance, I was trained as a UDT/SEAL and believe me if there’s a commandment from Jesus to arm myself I’d want to hear it but I’m not going to pretend it’s saying something it isn’t. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty for the pulling down of strongholds. Come Lord Jesus!

Pacifists are not willing to Kill the intruder. Because he's not saved. But they ARE willing to let that intruder kill their unsaved neighbors!. "Loving your neighbor" doesn't just include the unsaved intruder. It includes all his victims.(Who statistically speaking are probably not saved) Victims were killed because pacifists were not willing to use reasonable force to stop him. Reasonable force means the least amount necessary to stop him- up to and including the point of death.

Jesus knew that he would fulfill the prophecy from Isaiah 53,12: "And he was numbered with the transgressors". “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack.
