We take a look at a few of those videos and discuss what the Bible actually says about these things and what our response should be when presented with such ideas.

Excellent! With regard to abundance, I reflect that too much may make the entry to heaven as difficult as that of “a camel passing through the eye of a needle,” or that our concern should not be with our ‘treasures on earth but on those that we store for heaven.’

I do wish we wouldn’t let the protest of The Roman Church stop us from honoring historic Christian worship. I hope the GMC leans into a more primitive Methodism including the Anglican worship style. I agree incense is great robes/albs are good, acolytes are great! Liturgy is the best!

Food for thought and something I've never thought about until this discussion. Perhaps Jesus grew up 'middle class'. Most bible scholars believe that Joseph was a carpenter and that Jesus probably learned this trade as well as a young boy unto adulthood. Justin Martyr said this about Jesus; "He was deemed a carpenter (for He was in the habit of working as a carpenter when among men, making ploughs and yokes . . ." So Joseph, Jesus and Joseph's sons likely were hard working men and not part of the local aristocracy. As Joseph was able to provide for a rather large family we could also make the assumption that he was pretty successful at his trade. Not rich but certainly not poor. All speculation of course.

You're on track, brother. Malachi 3: 10-12 - "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty". I agree that abundance looks different in God's economy; nevertheless the exhortation is to test the Lord in this regard. Interesting and challenging!

Children come up with the craziest ideas. One of my children challenges everything about reality and attempts to "win" discussions and arguments by appealing to absurdity. In order to properly correct him, it's necessary to tear down his delusions and determined position. I think it's the same when it comes to faith. As we build up our faith, both individually and corporately, there will inevitably be flaws and errors as we wrestle with the human experience. People come to wrong perceptions about God and wrong concepts of what the individual Christian is expected to do as well as what the church is supposed to do. Just like with my child's delusions and determinations, these things need to be removed and corrected if a proper and structurally sound house of faith is to be built in the believer. You can't build a safe and secure house for your family on a crumbling or rotten foundation; and a faith built on crumbling or rotten foundation is not a safe place to cultivate strong faith.

a slight misquote from TJ,,, the 23r the phrase Ya though I walk through valley of the shadow of death,,,, is an allegorical exposition of the psalmist's thought,,, it doesn't mean YOU will go through the valley. Analogous statement,,, even if I get a flat tire you, are there and will help me fix my flat. You/me/the reader/singer we don't have a flat it is an exposition of thought. to put us in his mental state. Like wise in 139:7-10 we find a like statement except this time it is almost an expletive,,,,, even if I make my bed in f***** HELL,,,,, THERE YOU ARE.... EVEN IF I SPROUT WINGS AND FLY AWAY,,,,, THERE YOU IS. It doesn't mean we are going to sprout wings,,, or make our bed in hell. It helps us achieve the mental state/feelings of the writer of the song. Since after all psalms are meant to be sung and should be considered song,,, almost operatic in form. otherwise,,, good video keep on keeping on.

Guys, some good points, but we must be careful to not let negativity that has been taught through various traditions of theology, shut down the depths of Scripture by limiting it through tradition filled eyes. It can go too far in either direction.....at times. Didn't find this path for the video to be on your usual direction.....

Well, we know his parents at last were peasants. He was indeed an itinerant teacher and preacher. These categories aren't mutually exclusive. The thing I'm certain he was NOT was wealthy by worldly standards. But sure, he could have had enough money with some to spare.
