Every time I watch an episode it brings me to tears. I think in today's world anything that is positive and can lift the faith of so many around the world is truly a blessing. I think the answer is really so simple. He's fully human, but fully God. He has not just 3 years or 30 years of working towards a relationship with His people but thousands. Imagine being 100% faithful, parting the Red Sea, etc only to have mankind behave faithlessly. As humans, we would feel hurt, disappointed, frustrated, and defeated. Often when someone finally breaks down in tears or blows up or lashes out in anger, it has little to do with the immediate moment. That moment is just that one iota too much. 😢

I can't thank God, you and your team and the fans enough for this series. I was a Christian as long as I can remember, I grew up in the church but I was never "closer" to Jesus than i have been since watching the series. Now I have changed my life around and reading the Bible every day and the first four chosen books. I have made many major mistakes in my life one big one being sexually immoral but I have repented and am no longer having sex until marriage if that should ever happen. What's rough is that I don't know any man willing to wait with me so I probably will be alone the rest of my life but as long as I have Jesus i am ok. But I still fear the judgment and weight of my past sins but all I can do is continue to worship my Savior knowing He loves me and has forgiven me for the things ive done. Thank you again for this life and faith changing series and I can't wait for season 5 but I'm going to need about 20 boxes of tissues for this one.

Dallas, I met you and Amanda at Chosen Con 2023 and as I shook your hand I turned to Amanda and said "hydrate this man" because I had watched Dallas cry while we waited in the picture line for our turn. But Dallas, what you don't know is that after that, I saw your parents and some of your kids go outside and talked to them and got a picture with your Mom, that was taken by your lovely dark haired daughter. Sensing the opportunity of this moment, I told your Dad Jerry about how I had just watched you cry in line and how sweet it was. I also told him how sad it was that Satan had twisted crying in Society to be shameful and that men shouldn't do it. But "Jesus wept" and the scripture is there for a reason so that we know that as we do, we are coming closer to him and being like Him. Crying is a beautiful connection between mind body and Spirit. I'm grateful to have these memories and be able to share them on my channel

You are the only one in all the comments who identified "anger," that which is expressed in the New Testament Greek, from which we get the story. Clearly, the panel doesn't have a clue, which is reallly disappointing. If I were Dallas, I think I would have left this in the can.
@He.Is.Love4Real2 ай бұрын
That makes sense, because there’s no selfishness in love, and Jesus is compassionate. He also may have felt indignation and sorrow at the fallen state of the world - here He was, the resurrection and the Life and yet all they could see was death. I don’t think it was disappointment though, because that has self-pity connotations.

Jesus is really man and really human. Thank you all for bravely speaking on this topic. God bless you one and all. Jesus loves you and his peace will be with you now and forever more. 🕊🤍🕊 Hallelujah! The LORD taught me several months ago that the Hebrew word for dance also means to writhe in pain or travail. Life is filled with the bitter sweet. The dance and the writhe seem to be inner twined, one continuous movement. The Hebrew letters show a picture of being joined to the shepherd or leader. He chose to be joined to his bride through suffering, and we are joined with him in our suffering. When we see Jesus fall and weep in deep pain that is a connection we have with him for eternity, but can only gain in this fleeting mortal experience. I think he is crying for everyone mentioned above plus knowing he is headed to the loneliest most painful time of his life and many will not take shelter under his wings despite his suffering.

A few years ago, an answer to this question overwhelmed me… the level of grief that Jesus felt in this moment was unlike anything we can comprehend. His perfect submission to the Father’s command, so that others may see and believe, ahead of laying down His own life for all… it crushed Him to see His friends grieving as a result of His obedience, knowing still that He would raise Lazarus, but nonetheless, the heartbreak in the waiting. I consider this even now as we wait for His return, as He looks upon His Bride, the Church, broken and grieved by the days at hand… He weeps and intervenes for us in the waiting, until we all rise in full redemption and glory with Him. No man knows the hour except the Father (Matt 24:36). The human difficulty of submitting here and now to the perfect will of Father God is exemplified in the tears of our Lord Jesus. Only by our faith in Jesus, by His Holy Spirit, the Living Word of God, are we kept and sustained with an inkling of understanding… the waiting, that they may see and believe… John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 🙏🏻💗Thank you, Jesus💗🙏🏻

One of the most difficult things for a person of conscience to endure is to witness suffering and be completely helpless to prevent it. I think Jesus was, at least in part, still weeping for Lazarus, because He wasn't resurrecting him to eternal life, He was waking him up just to face death all over again. Likewise, He knows that He must soon die Himself, and, though necessary, that will also bring great sorrow and distress to all those who love Him. To see others suffer is hard, but how much more difficult is it to know that you were the cause of their pain? His tears remind me of a child being spanked for their own good and the parent saying, "this hurts me more than it does you".
@fullcircle47232 ай бұрын
I am of Maori heritage and lived through the changes within our peoples culture. Growing up it was normal to hear the wailing of the women and especially the older women. Certain hymns and songs and the way they were sung also grabbed you and made you weep. Something you couldn't control. It was natural. Even today these songs can still touch the heart and make you weep. My thoughts on why Jesus wept is His dissatisfaction to why people weep and the pain and suffering He felt by witnessing it. He wipes away all our tears and grief and gives us the opportunity to live eternally with no pain and sorrow. Dying today is a good thing in that we've made another step closer to Him. Trust in Jesus and that there is another life after this one, and you will welcome death with a smile. I can honestly say I trust in Jesus but I can also honestly say that I still grieve for those who have gone before us. Blessed are those who take refuge in Him. Amen.

Lazarus was overjoyed as to where he was and Jesus knew this but Lazarus had to be brought back into this fallen world.
@christinej23582 ай бұрын
I’m so glad someone else thinks this, because even though I agree with the many reason they discussed on this video as to why Jesus wept. I have also always thought Jesus knew he was bringing Lazarus back from heavenly peace to a fallen world and how sad that must have made him. Plus Jesus knew Lazarus would one day have to suffer death all over again. I can’t help but wonder if Lazarus was a little upset that he had been resurrected after seeing the full glory of God in heaven. I loved how the Chosen did the scene where Lazarus asked Jesus why him. That brings in all the other theories of why Jesus wept. I guess none of us will know until the day we see Jesus face to face in heaven, but at that point we probably won’t even think about it. We will just be overwhelmed with excitement of being in the very presence of God. Just thinking about that day makes my heart and soul extremely happy. 😃

I think, and I could be wrong, that Jesus wept for two reasons. 1) He knew that His followers still had unbelief and He didn't have more time to make them believe; and 2) Because raising Lazarus signaled the start of His being arrested, beaten, and crucified. He told them, "It is my time." "My time has come." "Soon I won't be with you." And His followers didn't get it.

Here is yet another reason (#5). Jesus is a teacher. He is teaching us that it is OK to cry. You'll notice that only Mary and Martha are crying (women!). Women know it is OK to cry and you can see that in Mother Mary, and how she sympathizes with them and tries to console them. Yet all the men, who are "MEN" try to withhold their emotions, because that is their job to be strong and stoic. Jesus cries, the disciples are shocked, Thomas is angry (love that part Dallas), and the women embrace with Jesus and comfort each other, BEAUTIFUL. This is the lesson, it is OK to cry and morn, God wants us to do this, and not become angry. As for the other four reasons, I do not feel that they are incorrect. Each one in it's own right is also true. That is what the Divine Mystery is all about, that opposing things can actually both be true, how can this be, only through our Lord and Savior...

@Teresia-mx4hk2 ай бұрын
I felt like He cried because those very close to Him, the disciples would be mad that He was out there sorting everyone else's issues but not theirs. With Simon wife miscarriaging, Thomas girlfriend dying, some were lame, but only got this from watching The Chosen. Otherwise He was crying because He got to experience how we go through pain, things happening to us out of lack of knowledge and beyond our control even. Being human is the ghetto, but God is mighty in us❤

Dallas, that's how I interpreted the scene; for me when Christ looks on the face of the disciples yes it is his omniscience peaking through, Christ is overcome by it all. By the necessity of the total tapestry of human grief bearing down on a half mortal, half God; the cost of salvation and knowledge of messiaship unto his disciples and the world.

I'm BAFFLED by all the comments & arguments as to WHY he wept... isn't it enough to know that Jesus DID weep? He, as God, as man, felt enough to weep & made it important enough to be included in scripture... these scenes in THE CHOSEN just show us a few, I'm sure, of the MANY times He wept...
