I was an extra “loawai “(foreigner), i witnessed this full fight shooting in live as i was in one of the balcony around the ring. It was great to watch them get into the chorégraphie and I’d say Jet Li is just astonishing on how quick and with not much mistakes he would go through the whole sequences. I was there with my friend Jon T Benn ( The villain boss in Way of the Dragon! RIP as he passed away in december 2018),. We spent 5 days on two different sets. Good memories though.

I love the decision to have the two warriors from historically waring countries to have the utmost respect for each other before, throughout, and after the final fight. The actor who plays the Japanese Samurai is fantastic at this - arguably as good as Jet Li.

Any top-level competitor, who is honorable, wants to test themselves against another at their best. A victory against anything less is a hollow one and doesn't force them to grow or require the best out of them. You'll notice the Jet Li character also wanted the Japanese fighter at his best. He had him at an obvious disadvantage when the weapons were switched. Honor and integrity on both sides.
@Eyes-of-Horus3 жыл бұрын
How many realized that when the Japanese Master stopped the fight (actually a demonstration of styles) he saw that he could have been killed with that one punch. Notice the punch at the end that went through his blocks was right on the Japanese Master's heart. He looked at it and knew the fight was over. It is too bad the whole fight wasn't shown. It is excellent.

That was an awesome scene. 3 section staff vs katana. Thumbs up for this fight. Obviously, if you're Japanese, the katana is THE weapon. In Chinese martial arts, they have so many options because they train everything. You know? There are like medium, thin, extra thin, thick, heavy, light, even hooked swords/weapons. 3 section staff is what I think of when I think of Chinese martial arts as something powerful for all ages and from all times.

Seeing this, I realized that Jet Lee's kung fu style young time is more cool than others. He style is more classy. He displays fantasy kung fu show the best of the others. Unfortunately he is less muscular and short that sometimes overwhelmed when faced with a large and muscular opponent. In terms of fighting style as a young man, he's the coolest of Dick Wei, Max Zhang, Donny Yen and Zacky Chan. Even Bruce Lee's fighting style was not as cool as agile than Jet Lee. The only two issues that he: less muscular and short.

Fight with Japanese samurai, lacking the Chinese sword and Japanese knife, pitiful! I buy a sword, same like Qin Dynasty 221 to 206 BC, I believe China's sword will certainly outshine Japan's knife.
