So frustrating started hearing some thing off about the ski on the last ride at the lake which unfortunately for me was a while ago about two years because we had a child since then and it’s been no go for me to be able to get back out on the ski and ride again. Since they were brand new at the time and it had not been a year yet and there is about nine hours on the skis I figured I would wait for the oil change until I was ready to go ride again. Getting ready this weekend to take them out put some fresh batteries in them because of course they were dead my wife’s STX started up just fine and runs like a champ. When I went to start the SXR I could hear some thing in the engine that did not sound right and then a knocking noise and the engine cut off. Started it up again for just a second and I can hear more knocking and it shut off. I am assuming I am dealing with the same scenario.. We shall see, thanks for the post.

I'm trying to seal an ultra 300x set of cases and the repair manual says to not apply the liquid sealer to the crank journal area. One end of the case/crank takes a seal but the other end does not. If I don't apply sealer to the end without a seal, won't it leak?

So many people have told me they did the same thing. I feel like Kawasaki made some big mistakes in the design.

I bet you can put this in a car.

Dang, you would think they made these skis to be somewhat waterproof. My heart would sink if I had to rebuild the engine. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you in parts? What do you think it would have cost you if you included labor as well? I have a sxr1500 as well and just got it out to de-winterize it and its turning over but not firing. I think it could be the spark plugs or I heard the fuel filters go bad on these but I'm not sure?
@teambrowns41234 жыл бұрын
R S it was $2,000 for the cylinders, piston, piston rings, and all other gaskets and stuff. I’m not sure without being there, but spark plugs would definitely be my first go-to. Can’t be anything deeper than that, being that’s a newer motor, unless something went really wrong last time you road it.

Do you have the original airbox or an aftermarket filter?
@teambrowns41233 жыл бұрын
I had the original airbox when this happened. If you switch to aftermarket, it will solve the problem.

Question what’s your timing marks on the engine
@teambrowns41234 жыл бұрын
It was a dot combination. From what I remember, the manual we were working off of had numbers. So we had to figure out the combo of dots to match it. Does that answer your question? I have footage of us setting the timing, but it’s not close up to where you can see the timing marks.
@jadeadderley88534 жыл бұрын
Team Browns that help but now my timing is right but I get compression in the number one but 2,3,4 has low compression what do you think that is the values on the head
@teambrowns41234 жыл бұрын
Jade Adderley well not being there and knowing how it happened, my first go to would be piston rings. But if you have replaced those, my next check would be the valves. I had an issue with one of my valves that we discovered through the rebuild process. Could be wrong on those. That’s just what my mind goes to when I think about doing mine.

How do we fix water no getting in it again
@teambrowns41235 жыл бұрын
Well mine was a freak accident where my ski ended up on its side where the exhaust is. My brother-in-law has an identical ski and his got sunk too. Luckily we knew to not try to start it after. We pulled it up on the beach and emptied out the water in the air box, throttle body, and cylinders. After getting all the water out it ran fine. In his situation he had a full tank of gas, and his son riding it. Too much weight in the front without any in the back. The nose got buried and then he hit the throttle. It pushed the nose into the water and it came in through the air intake.
