For all the MAA's that camp within the range of the spawn AA: Most of them stand still all the time, just spot him and drop a two Jdam's from the flight ceiling. Most of the time they forget to pop their APS, and when they get hit by the first one they can't Move out of the way for the second one.

About 550-600m gives you enough time to pop 2 shots. 2nd shot will follow up to quick to even react.

@@asdf-fm7sx a jdam? I have never shot one out of the sky, they a small target to hit and when u dont know where its coming its a bit hard. And the higher in altitude the plain gets the harder it gets to shoot it down so the more likely they are to kill you unless your constantly moving wich makes it harder on both ends as well.

AA's are crazy OP. If I'm in one, not only will there be no enemy aircraft, but I can snipe enemies with the cannons better than any 20/14x sniper.

Then you play very low skilled opponents. The heli and jet can easily take out the AA. It just takes a good pilot and some brains.

I am an AA tryhard and one weakness i can give you about it is that if you look straight up in an AA and spin the turret in a circle there will be a patch of sky you just cant aim at meaning its turrent can only look up at a 80-85 degree angle and when im attacked from that blind spot all i can do i try and move until my cross hairs are back on them to shoot that active radar so he can lose control and get off my back for a bit so i can regroup myself and figure out a way to take him on if that situation is to happen again. I use the support class MP-APS an active protection system that is literally the same to a vehicle active protection. I place it down and drive my AA over it. Only down fall is that about the hight of the vehicle will hinder the portable Active protection and cause 35 percent of the rounds shot at you from above to hit you. And then you have your regular vehicle active protection making you have double the AP and you throw a supply box down and gain another and place it down ready for another use which is faster then waiting for it to rearm itself. Only real danger to me are JDams but pilots make it to easy to know when its coming lol and the way you use it like you did in this video was brilliant dropping it at the last second. But as an experienced AA driver having air radar and noticing that your looking my direction makes me look towards your direction unless your straight above me lol all i have to do is move towards you making the time you have to shoot me shorter and making the jdams miss barley. Then move right back on to my mobile active protection. The most common way peope attack me is with hydra rockets and it isn't that effective unless im super unaware of you and my active protection 2 layers plan is used up. In my opinion someone skilled with a tv guided missile in an attack helicopter will fuck my world up -_- and you cant stop it i tried lol they poke out for half a second shot and hide immediately afterward making it hard -_- . Attack jets make themselves too vulnerable by slowing down a lot and even if you hit me your moving like 10 mph up there making yourself a target. I hope this will help you guys on killing people like me on an AA because i sure love a challenge.

Also camping near the stationary AA at home base is the best move for me to ensure that im out of reach of main battle tanks and jihads lol all you have to do is wait till the attack jet aims down at a distance and put the little dot half way between the jet and the ground using its own shots as a line since they hit in the direction of fire and majority of the time when they are hit the smash into the ground

Good tips, although you might want to reconsider dive bombing the AA if they have active radar missiles. One of my fav tactics is to pretend not to notice the jet as it lines up the run, and then suddenly pop my APS and hit them with an active radar about 2/3 the way down, so they come crashing into the ground, due to the mobility hit.

That was a very useful tutorial. I never thought about dropping down low his range of fire. I didn't know there was a limit to what he could see so that was very informative. I just don't know what APS stands for.

Another tip is when starting out, either avoid it entirely or make sure both jets are dead before going to attack it. Nothing is worse than missing the AA then both jets appear behind you

I spam AA so I'll give you my tactics so you can try to avoid them. I'm a d-bag so I use active radar. I tend to stay in the middle of the map or travel with tank/LAV. When an attack jet is diving on me or strafing me, unless I know his secondary weapon, I will always assume JDAM. What I do in this case is to activate APS and move the AA in the direction of the jet, this way he needs to dive steeper and may even crash. Another thing I do when being dived is to launch active radar missile to get a mobility hit, making the plane easier to shoot down. So if you want to engage AA with aircraft (I suggest you don't), make sure you fire countermeasures to avoid an active radar to the face. Also spin if you want to 'try' to avoid the cannons.

+Ghost Gaming i understand the missile spam, to not be a bitch, i use 30MM, ZUNI rockets, active protection, I personally HATE lock on spam, I so however find firing thousands of rounds at distant jets entertaining (even if only 2 hit the jet) (i do try to stay near the fight to give hostile a fair chance to take me out, it also makes my AA experience fair, and action-packed!) (But I do know why the AA gets a metric shit-load of hate)

For AA tankers, never stick around your vehicle spawn point. Shoot and scoot, right away from your last firing point. Jets, especially, have flight paths they tend to run back and forth across the battlefield, so stick your tank at some point along this, preferably covered by terrain. ALWAYS MOVE AFTER AN ENGAGEMENT! Use missiles and only shoot if the aircraft has just fired chaff/flares. Only use guns on close range choppers and attacking infantry. Watch out for tanks and get ready to leg it. Don't get involved taking objectives, you are there to fuck up aircraft. Again, keep moving. Obey these rules and you will give the pricks in the planes a bad day. Watch them get upset. Watch one of them spot you and try a solo attack in his rage!

The only thing that works for me against good MAA's is this: wait until the aa is distracted, fly at ~800, drop the first bomb, go in a dive, drop the second bomb, climb up again and dodge if necessary. this does not always work but pretty often it does actually. and it feels great :)

I've frustrated many skilled attack jet players with the AA tank. I'm not the best attack jet player so I enjoy every chance I get to exact revenge. I don't camp of course. My load out is just 20mm+APS+active radar. I try to move into the front lines as much as possible, but well within friendly territory. I observe attack jets, and as soon as they begin their attack run (when they're the most vulnerable), I pop off one active radar missile to trigger their ECM or flares, then immediately fire off the second missile and the 20 mm cannon. I do this as well when they're in a dogfight. It's important to lead your shots in both situations.

Great presentation and information! When using Laser Guided missiles you can start your approach low just over ground or water. Due to the downward pitch of the gunsight, the jet will have to pitch up slightly to aim and lock removing concerns about pulling up or crashing in a critical state. Unless you approached his face in his view most times they'll swivel upwards looking for you in the sky. Even if he sees you, it's hard to get a lock or cross hair on you before you pass. Once you do, he has to swivel 180 degrees to follow. As you are leaving at an almost level slightly upward angle with him facing the other way, you can evade by going just about anywhere you want. Anyone can do this with the default jet load out and without having to line up a 30mm gun sight or even manage flight speed. While you have to plan and be thoughtful, there is not a lot of muscle memory involved. Fly fast, low, level, line him up, fire, wait for impact, and leave. If both hit without being countered you will do a minimum of 60 damage from any angle. Good for newer pilots with basic loadouts and less experience with speed controlled 30mm ground attacks.

Good tactics mate, although I never really see anybody using the LGM on the Attack Jet. The only downside to this is that you don't take him out in one pass, and then he's left free to repair whilst you reload your LGM. You're all set if the Stealth Jet does this too though ;)

Here is another tip: - take the attack jet and fly on very high altitude - spot the aa or wait for your team to spot it - find it on your jdam-monitor and drop the first bomb (aa tanks are mostly camping) - after you dropped the bomb fly a vertical loop and wait for the hitmarker - if the jdam hits right it will cause a mobility kill - after you finished the loop just drop the second bomb (if you lost the aa out of sight, look for the detonation of the first jdam and spot the aa again) - while the aa tank cant move, the second jdam will finish it off - profit

It is actually much easier to kill it with hydras. Just give him one full burst of rockets from a distance, pull up to like 1.5km while his aps is active and he cannot see shit due to the explosions and then just finnish him with an top down angle :) if u hit all 14 rockets, you will do 96dmg.

one tactic i find working almost always is going max altitude and dropping a jdam on them when they are stationary. then immediately dive close to 90 degrees and follow your bomb. start using the cannons right when the first jdam hits and then drop the second one on your way out. thats two booms and gunfire in such rapid succession they wont know whats going on until its over.

AA is the most annoying vehicle in the game. And easily the most powerful because if you try to attack it with air you're dead. If you attack it with ground it will just run back to spawn or it's accompanied by a tank

i donno if the JDAM has changed in this manner or not but, it seems like if i swap to the JDAM screen even remotely fast, like in this video, it will refuse to fire even if I mash that lmb really hard and quickly.. Is this something you or anyone else experienced at some point too?

fuji748 ive actually practiced a LOT since that comment. JDAM's are still very great. I am able to do about as much damage as ghost was doing in here, provided their AA isnt very good. And yes that tactic is my go to method for dealing with active radar camping AA. if one jdam hits directly, i will engage and finish them off. I will typically circle around up high in the air, using JDAM's until one good one hits. Then I can follow that up. Another tactic that ive found AMAZINGLY helpful, is spotting while you're looking backwards in third person. You can use this to spot the AA after you have done a bombing run, or see where lockons are coming from *exactly*.

jdam gurantees 50 damage and a mobility kill (idk if reactive changes anything) if APS is not used. so no it does not but if you damage it down to 50 health and THEN drop a jdam its dead if it doesnt use APS

A better way of engaging the AA is to JDAM from it from really high altitude prior to a gun run (like close to the flight ceiling) This causes it to trigger it's APS in panic and your secondary gun run with the 30mm finishes it off.

And a little tip for a tanks- ALWAYS STAY MOBILE! don't stop, because if you are standing in one spot, not moving at all- you are very easy target, and if it's easy to hit you- it's pretty much guaranteed mobility hit, and then you are dead. What I do- is whenever it's possible- I keep moving, thanks to that, even if I didn't realize that a jet was going after me- he can't finish me off with his jdam so I can fully repair before another attack run- so he is basically done, because now I'm aware of his existence ;) The only way that a good pilot can kill a good aa driver- is when he is engaged on something else- then it's pretty much a free kill.

Did the same thing, Once I got 50 kills in one match no death with the AA, was moving all the time, when targeted by a jet, try to move constantly in unpredictable pattern. I literally was a "tanker" with that AA, killing everything from infantry to amored and air targets,capturing objectives, I even came very close to their base, that's why my teammates had a lot of free space to press the enemy line, they got pissed and told me I was in an AA all the time and did not know to play something else, but they didn't even got a chance to kill me yet, why did I need to go do other things? A good AA driver is scary, a AA base camper can be annoying but it is nothing compared to a player who knows what to do with it.

Ghost thanks, it's the awful active radar that infuriates, along with the other team and their stealth jet pilot and his active radar. This only becomes a big issue when flying solo, or playing alone, like you said in your video the best is having a squad mate in the stealth, having him drop a couple laser guided missiles, then swoop in and finish the job.

Ghost, I watched all of your jet videos again for the 20th time and now that I understand flying better they have made all the difference, watching your maneuvers and copying them when the situation calls for it. I still have a tough time staying alive in the attack jet, but the stealth jet, I have improved in drastically. 18-1 yesterday in an attack, though still haven't broke the 20 kill mark in it yet.

I still prefer my way of doing it though. I always start my strafe very high and right on top of him because the MAA cannot aim straight up. If the driver is some noob, I will simply drop 2 jdams and done. If he kind of knows what he's doing and pops APS, I will break off and come back to finish him off. If he's a good player and drives away fast, which would be the propper counter to this, if cancel my run in the direction he's driver and try again after a while when he's distracted.

Very handy! I have to get to using Jdams. With rocket pods I usually fire off 14 of them from a distance (either pops his APS thinking he's under attack or does a decent chunk of damage) then turn away to reload. Most drivers then straight up panic and don't even look for you, they instead try to run away which is more than enough time for you to do the remaining damage. This however seems way more effective so I'm looking forward to trying it out :)

hello Oh yeah a skilled AA pilot is a nightmare. However if you keep your distance and are accurate with the pods there's really not much he can do. if you pop ECM when going in the active radar missiles ignore you, and you can always turn away if you're taking damage. If he has a repair tool however then you might aswell quit :D

usually i find mobile aa not as mobile as it said, just standing. simply gain attitute and drop a jdam precisly on the if it hit its a 50dmg and simply dive into him WITH ecm a while before or flares close at him so his active radar wont hit u. if theres only 1 radar hitting u in a dive then say bb

Great tutorial but I'd say if I was with you in a stealth jet 1: Jets will never bother you again 2: Boats will always be on me 3: Land vehicles will be on me Not because I'm a clown but my manuverability is frustrating they will just keep trying For instance a jet is on me what do I do I circle him until he gets used to the pattern, then I change the pattern, finally hit him with active radar and 25 mm cannon he is gone

I work the AA a lot. I'm never at the places you call out here, since these are spots where people expect me, all unskilled players go there. I have a lot of jets trying to take me put, trying to kill we diving straight down when they fly top high above me, killed them all except a few. people always think the AA is a easy one to get some points, don't be mistaking.... you need passive radar missiles, air radar, belt feeder and a LOT OF practice. have my tricks to take out choppers and jets and they work flawlessly 90% off the time. +30 AA service stars and I don't even play AA all the time

I usually just ignore the AA tanks. They almost always get taken out sometime later by MBT or infantry, unless they camp then I have to switch to jihad jeeps

I'd probably just wait until he comes out from cover, if he's under something he can't shoot you. If he has an angle on you but you can't see him maybe try to get your team to either flush him out or destroy him completely. If all else fails and he does end up taking you out, just do what I do and swear endlessly and say something like " Why would you camp in your own spawn you sweaty little try hard!?"

+john doe camping at one place (even base) in an AA ruins the game, u cant even support your teammates to take down air vehicles. without enemy's airforce killing your team, they can push forward and you can even go through the enemy's line to kill every single choppers/jets trying to take off. im fine with the enemy AA killing me but camping friendly AA pisses me so much

First If AA is raping you use stealth coating- active radars will more likely miss you, second gain maximum range and altitude spot AA drop 2 JDAMS in a row onto him when you feel that you are closer than 800m to him pop ECM for maximum protection against rockets and strafe away first bomb will hit him 2 seconds later second one will destroy him works 100% and its seems like AA is nothing against an attack jet. Also A-10 is better for JDAM-ing infantry because u can aim thru the window and actually see where the enemy is even not looking at JDAM screen- does not work with other attack jets because of view from cockpit. -SovietTow :)

I'm a big battlefield 4 fan and I was wondering if the smoke from the tanks actually blocks people's view. I tend to pop smoke whenever someone spots me and the alarms turn off. but what is the purpose of popping smoke while you're in the tank?

There is one more Jet Tutorial that I can confidently request on behalf of the entire community of sub-par BF4 pilots...Which is: What do you do when you are being tailed? How do you lose a tail? How do maintain a tail? I feel like there are a set of moves to execute when being tailed to lose your tail, and then, tail the jet previously tailing you. I feel this way because I feel like somehow, when I am tailing a jet (just out of luck for spawning at the right time) some of the better pilots execute certain maneuvers and I always end up losing my tail and getting tailed.

Losing a tail is difficult. Theoretically speaking, the only way it's going to happen is if your tail speed fails or doesn't mimic your manoeuvre's well enough. That's why doing things such as diagonal loops with switches are preferable since they're harder than say, looping horizontally, and therefore more pilots will have problems mimicking it. There are also special manoeuvres such as scissors which many pilots will find hard to mimic.

when i use AA im best on Golmud railway and i go on top of the rail close to spawn just before it turns to a bridge im almost invincible there if theres a tank on the right i simply go left and immediatily have cover and the entire air force of the enemy team usually ends up twaming to come kill me but always fail i use the 30mm cannon against heli and jets that comes from really high as well as when they are out of heatseeker lock on range but theres 2 big weakness 1 is parachuters that use c4 and 2 is kamekazee slam users thankfully its super rare anyone uses slams cause its the most effective always wandered why tho - almost forgot (damnit i have to edit) the most important as an AA is to notice the most skilled jet and always keep him spoted but dont shoot if you aren't certain to hit him and when the spot icon stops moving it means hes coming straight for you at that point press the spot on more time and turn a bit away to make the jet think you dont expect him but just enough to barely see him on the edge of your screen then when he starts getting close enough for lock on just turn on active protection and open fire straigh on him with the 30mm it will almost instantly kill him and you wont be harmed thanks to active protection its also good to be near a building that has a roof just in case - sorry jet pilots but you guys are getting too good thanks to tutorials like this one and all the AA tutorial only show the basics but they dont help against good jet pilots

I might make one but I thought it pretty self-explanatory. There is one AA in either deployment, if you're spotted by the enemy, it will shoot at you. Stay away from it :).

I have more kills using the AA tank primary weapons for the AA I been using 20mm or 30mm, zuni rockets, active protection, zoom optics, and auto loader I was able to take down main tank it takes skills and strategies some players who are not using the active protection for the main tank they are history same goes for the IFV
