If Spirit goes away, other airlines like Breeze and Allegiant will take that niche. Also if JetBlue doesn't take Spirit, Spirit will still go away anyway, except you won't have the airline to take on the big 4.

Yes, but JetBlue can’t grow. Like everyone else, there is a labor issue. To keep prices stabilized, you need to grow for economies of scale in the airlines.

You say you want to protect capitalism and free enterprise, but blocking this merger doesn't protect free enterprise. This actually protects the Big 4 from any real competition. If JetBlue wants to compete on that level they should be able to.

People aren’t realizing it is fairs they’re not gonna drop they’re just gonna go up. It angers me that no one is seeing the realization that spirit is not JetBlue there’s no comparison. Spirit places are always lower than JetBlue is because of their business model so merging to airlines is just gonna put the prices up it’s going to make everyone in a worse position and the airline mysteries can be more monopolized.

@@parkeryocum6830 They let AA buy America West, US Airways but AA, United and Continental, Delta and Northwest, SWA and AirTran. Do you realize Spirit is losing a lot of money the last couple years? Do you think the government will save them? Nope, too small. Then what will happen to your ticket prices? Also, who says Spirit needs to operate as a ULCC? They don’t need to keep that business model. Don’t customers want a better experience? It certainly isn’t with Spirit’s management canceling your flights and running the operation into the ground. JetBlue needs planes, pilots, flight attendants and mechanics. More reliable network, better customer service. If you don’t like ticket prices going up, talk to this administration about fuel costs. That’s the main driver of ticket prices.

They are referring to board members, which are usually shareholders, for example; investors, or other companies that have shares in JetBlue. It’s not reffering to traders - with a laptop - that have fewer then 0.0001%.

I booked my round trip on expedia from RDU to New York. My trip cost from RDU to LGA on Delta, $68 with free carry on while return from JFK to RDU on Jet Blue cost me $158 (more then twice)and carry on will cost me $30 extra and while I was picking up seat I choose cheapest seat which cost $7 which ended up to $24.50 after tax. No more @JetBlue to me.

Employees will benefit with greater job security. Customers will benefit from economy of scale. With the labor crunch everyone is experiencing, it isn’t sustainable and airlines need growth due to massive retirements, massive demand and to attract talent to work there instead of Delta or United.

@@robj4727 - I was in the airline industry for several years, when mergers happen the party that benefits are the executives. Rarely does the line staff see "that benefit". Also, airlines do not pay as much as you think for grueling work. My last interview for an admin position for an airline in a major US city was paying $35k a year. You will barely be able to pay your rent, musch less eat. With self-check-in and tech introducing new ways to cut labor down, how does that equal "greater job security"?

@@mepulley7913 well, I’m not in admin I’m a 25 yr unionized employee and I see tremendous upside. JetBlue has a very good product, Spirit has labor and airframes. Will a merger between employee groups be pretty? No, never is. But it offers market share and the ability to compete against SWA and legacies, lowers their prices like Robin said. If these two airlines aren’t growing as is because of labor shortages, their costs are increasing. Spirit especially since it’s a growth based model. Combining will give economies of scale. Yes, other staff may not benefit but the two largest unionized groups will. Don’t the democrats support unions? Apparently not.

You are so right. I started laughing when they said the prices are going to go down. They need to block this merger or else prices are going to go up everywhere. Frontier would be in control of the ultra low cost sector with A small number of competition.

I agree with you 100% fold JetBlue into bankruptcy. They abandoned my home airport after adding 10 routes the year before. With some idiots running that company that company needs to be bankrupt and GONE.
