Yeah, with no experience, any brazilian know how much of a nightmare it is to make feijoada, we hardly ever do it at home because it is such a mess to make, we only do it ourselfs on very special ocasions, for visitors, we almost always eat it outside on a restaurant or boteco.

It makes me feel really happy when I see people enjoying our food outside of Brazil. Fernanda did an amazing job! We are really proud of our culture and food, specially here in Minas Gerais! I grew up watching my grandmother cook, and with that, i learned how food is important, not only talking about the act of eating, but how food connects people, how food brings some memories, and thats the main reason i became a chef. I really hope to see you guys here in Minas, as soon as possible!

What makes brazilian diet and gastromy so impressive is that is home based, diverse, has no tabus and we don't put lables indicating origen. Brazil is an etnicaly and culturaly diverse country so we have incorporated many influences. In my opinion brazilian diet is basicaly european with strong african, asian (mainly japanese and chinese) and local natives influence. The way we eat is one of the very few things I like in Brazil. BTW Feijoada is originaly portuguese that incorporated an african reputation in Brazil because it was made from pork leftovers handed out to the slaves by the portugues master and so it proudly became our national dish.

Your mother is so pleased. You have to give her Bahian food, with seafood and palm oil. Also try the delicacies from the rivers of northern Brazil, she will be happy. You should try it too. Brazil has several faces of cuisine and culture. There is also Gaucho barbecue and Minas Gerais tropeiro beans made in the countryside at any grandma's house. The best of Brazil still awaits you. I didn't see it on camera but normally you also serve a whole orange per person to eat with the feijoada. Oranges will help break down the iron in black beans. Feijoada is traditionally served on Saturday's because it is a heavy meal and your body will consume a certain amount of energy to digest it that will leave you sleepy. So you shouldn't choose to have it on a week day / working day. There are places in Brazil that will serve feijoada on a Sunday but it is not the norm. Sunday is for most, stadium day. You might miss, sleep through or have trouble keeping focus watching your football (soccer) teams match. LOL

For Brazilian food, you have to eat it for more then one time, at first you may not like it to much, but after some time you kinda get addicted to it, for me olive oil, sauces and chilli enhances a lot the flavor and goodness of some meals....
