Kotor was part of Venice for 4 centuries as a bit of Venetian Albania The Turks never made it in! That's probably why Steve was so impressed with the fortifications and architecture and thought he was in a movie set. I thought the church you mentioned (opened in 1166, that one in the square where you had lunch) looked more like a Western Catholic church. In fact, I was right - it's the Catholic Cathedral Church of St Tryphon. So there's a bishop of Kotor somewhere round there and that's his church.

Looks like you will end up North adn hopefully less covid situation. so glad you can still get to travel ! And the name of the town Kotor,...and Ivana, you have got very nice hair!! There are many old castles in europe. I saw in other places, not sure which country, they built house or church on a huge high Rock. You should find out where they are! I saw vdeos of house on Rock.

If you plan going to Dubrovnik, I recommend not buying anything extra, the city is kind of known for being expensive. The only premium purchases you should make are visits to the city walls and to the cable transport. Also nearby Ston can be used to buy supplies as it's much cheaper, not to mention it has incredible walls that we like to claim, but I'm not sure is 100% true, as the second longest wall after the Chinese wall. Also a bit of fun fact, there is a Croatian naval brotherhood in Kotor that claims to be over 1100 years old and continues the tradition of the Croatian minority in Kotor and the general Boka Kotorska area.

There are many beautiful cities in the Balkans. We were fortunate to visit some of these beautiful and amazing cities just before the Pandemic, including Sofia (Bulgaria), Pristina (Kosovo), Tirana (Albania), Skopje (North Macedonia), Podgorica, Budva & Kotor (Montenegro), Dubrovnik, Split, Trigor & Zagreb (Croatia), Mostar & Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Ljubljana (Slovenia). Don't forget the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia too.

Hey Steve and Ivana John here. Can I make a suggestion with your future adventures. I'm a professional photographer . I strongly suggest that you travel to Mongolia in October for the Golden Eagle festival in Ogly Western Mongolia its amazing. I have many contacts in Mongolia who will help you out. You first go to Ulan Battar and my guide will meet you and take you every where from the Gobi desert to the Altar mountains. You will be staying at a Gur camp with a Kazah family. I can email you his contact, if you want pictures you can see them on my FB page. I think the wife and I will go to Montenego one day. Your drone piloting is fantastic.

Its because Albanian language was created in 19. century by Austrians , mixed of lot of different languages and dialects. So called Albanians did not understand one aech other before 20 c. and learning new language in schools. Even nowdays, so called Albanians , dont understand each other if they speak an older dialect. Before 19. c . , term Albanian did not exist. They called themselves Shiptar or Arvanites or Arbanasi. Term Albanian is modern construct. So, its normal you hardly can understand Malisori - Montenegro Albanians.
