You guys are spot on the food. The meat is good because cows, sheep, goat, and pigs are out pasture eating (they are better fed than us). Also in mountainous areas the breeds are old heritage breeds, not industrial breeds that are designed to grow in concrete prisons fed corn junk food and antibiotics. Same thing with cheese, comes from high quality milk. Try feta cheese in Canada or US, it's disgusting.

700 000 bunkers,is not 50 000
@mendjelire83923 жыл бұрын
50K is too low Steve. The number is over 170K bunkers all over Albania. In Lepushe they were meant to protect Albania from the Montenegrins/Yugoslavia who in early 20th century have committed terrible atrocities against Albanians, much worst then in Bosnia and Kosovo during the dissolution of Yugoslavia. The same in the south to protect us from the Greeks who in 1914 and 1944 committed genocide against the Cham Muslim Albanians of South Epirus and Northern Epirus (today's Southern Albania). Just for information Greece de jure ((legally - according to their law) still maintains, to this day, a "LAW OF WAR" with Albania, enacted during the Italian fascist occupation in WWII (when Albania itself was under occupation by the Italians of Mussolini) which de facto is nonsense now and it was nonsense then but they keep it in effect and do not want to repeal it because they do not want to return the stolen properties of the murdered and expelled Muslim Cham Albanians. Greece also attacked Albania in 1949 in which case Albania gave them a good lesson in the south/western border killing hundreds of Greek invaders and forcing them to retreat within the Greek borders. These are the reasons behind the more then 170K bunkers, which to uninformed people might seem as paranoia but to the Albanian people the danger was more than real at the time.
@JetLagWarriors3 жыл бұрын
This comment was very helpful. My estimate of the bunkers was way off - and it seems my idea as to why they were built was off a bit too. In the bunker art museum near Skanderbeu Square, we were told that the bunkers were built by Enver Hoxha as a sort of paranoia from a potential nuclear attack. Maybe that's where I got my 50k number from. Maybe Enver built around 50k of them and the others were built for a more legitimate reason. Or maybe I just misremembered. Either way thanks for this comment! Was very helpful. Albania fort!
@mendjelire83923 жыл бұрын
@@JetLagWarriors Yeah, they play it like that now because they want to make history more palatable for the tourists. No tourist wants to hear about cruel Greeks or Montenegrins or Serbs, especially the tourists from Greece, Montenegro and Serbia ;) So lets make Hoxha paranoid, it hurts nobody as he himself is already dead LOL never mind that during 45 years of communism there were actually several attempts by foreign powers, well documented, to send in armed groups of saboteurs to try and stir up shit. I mean, that regime was brutal and criminal but they did have their good reasons and we know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions ;)
@liljanasufaj41303 жыл бұрын
Thank God! Finally someone giving the reason for building the bunkers, because I get annoyed when people talk about " Hoxha's paranoia " in protecting the country. Apart from the information the commentator mentioned earlier, I can add to you that even Soviet Union almost attacked Albania in 1961 when Albania got out from Warsaw Treaty ( Eastern Block). They asked Tito's permission to pass through Yugoslavia, but Tito didn't allow them and instead alerted Albania, than Cuba clash happened and the idea was dropped. These bunkers were built after these incidents. People call Albania a insignificant country, but this country is the reason for 2WW and 3 Balcanic Wars. Albania has been under siege throughout its history.
