Great vid! Never thought the F3 could move so aggressively! A big shame they had to go.

BRILLIANT! no other words for it. As much as I love the 'phoon', the F3 is going to be much missed.

The F3 Tornado was pretty good by the time they got rid of it. I was never a fan of the GR/IDS, too short ranged to be of any use and a giant leap backwards compared to the Buccaneer which essentially did the same thing with three times the range and could launch from a carrier. The f3 however, with the modified dedicated anti radar variant, armed with at least six world beating ALARM missiles was probably the most effective anti radar platform in the world. For some bizarre reason the RAF could not wait to scrap them, no doubt under envious pressure to do so from the US.

@mandellorian it is a well known fact the Tornado could only outrun the Buccaneer at low level with afterburner which meant operationally the Tornado was slower than the Buccaneer because the Brick could sustain near supersonic speed for much longer. There is the well documented case of a Buccaneer being sent to act as a tanker to a Tornado gr1 on a mission to Beirut from Cyprus. The Tornado needed three or more prods just to get there and back but the Buccaneer was able to do it on internal fuel alone and had to slow down to allow the Tornado to keep up without using afterburner and running out of fuel and ditching in the sea. The Buccaneer also had terrain following radar and could easily have had the same more up to date system the Tornado had as the Buccaneer was the aircraft used to develop it! No, the Tornado was a short range strike jet and was more of a EU political fudge. The Buccaneer also arguably outperformed the Tornado in the first Gulf war particularly when it got self designating target pods and could act alone without the short ranged and fragile Tornado cramping its style.

Awesome F3 display , bring them back !

Seems to me, by looking again at this display, that the F3 could not have been such a bad dogfighter at all. Especially with the event of High off borse sight infrared missiles and Meteor missiles I think the F3 would still hold its own today.
