As for the roll cage don’t just cut it out and remove it but instead make them removable with pins so you keep the structural integrity but still ease of removing for work/maintenance

you may be getting low compression because of the dry head gasket ...there is this stuff called copper coat spray you can get at any speed shop .. you just spray it on the old metal head gasket and it seals it much better

The compression will come up put a couple of drops of pre mix down in each cylinder and crank it then and blocking off the intake will lower your cranking compression. The motor will run and compression will come up

the cylinders are dry that's why it has low compression. put a little trans fluid in there then due a compression test.

If you take the X out of your robe bar you might encounter the boat bending and warping maybe remove it but make it where you can bolted it back

Weld and new head gasket and cross etch cylds. Your compression should be good now with fuel and running as it was. Lower comp., is normal on a dry stored motor. I would not use it with an old head gasket you will end up with a frozen engine after it sits. Just order one. Should be fine. Sounds fine now. I would have Twin bilge pumps you develop a leak you wont stay a head of it.

Check your compression now I’ll bet money the compression came up . If she didn’t have but 80,90,100 psi she wouldn’t have started that easily cold . It ran more like the carbs aren’t synced or it’s got some vacuum leaks cleaning carbs would have happened before the mtr went in

Be aware that cheap compression testers are not very accurate! The harbour freight ones are terrible as well as the cheap Amazon ones. They all read low. You need to get a real compression tester.
