In this video, we take a look at the all-new NVIDIA JETSON NANO 2GB, A $59 Ai Development Board / SBC that’s totally worth the price!
Powered by the Tegra X1 with a 128 Core Maxwell-based GPU this board is turning out to be amazing!
Now Nvidia did have to make some sacrifices here to get the price this low but even with just 2GB of ram this thing is performing really well with Ai development or even just using this as an everyday desktop PC replacement!

If not, I can lend you the 4700U model if you're interested. Let me know and we can chat off youtube to coordinate.

I did pick up one, 1GB version, 12 months ago. It is great hardware, but I have fight with a Wi-Fi drivers and waited a long time for a kernel updates. Six month later I give up and sold it. I'm still hoping they will start making better software support. But no luck so far, it is still supports only the old kernel 4.9.140. And if you ask Nvidia on their forum, about when new kernel support going to be released, they will tell you "Customer can try to do that by their own". forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/ubuntu-19-10-with-kernel-5-3-0-18-on-jetson-nano/107619/2 No way, I'm not going to pick up that one.
@ighor
@ighor 3 жыл бұрын
Nvidia released Linux kernel 4.9.140 patches for its ARM linux devices 2 years ago, and there was no new kernel updates since then. You can't install a newer Linux kernel with support of Wi-Fi 6. And you need to know that Nvidia stops releasing updates for their old devices. And if you ask Nvidia on their forum, about when new kernel support going to be released, they will tell you "Customer can try to do that by their own". forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/ubuntu-19-10-with-kernel-5-3-0-18-on-jetson-nano/107619/2 Jetson Nano runs on the 5 years old hardware, since it is using the same GPU and CPU as used in the first revision of Nintendo Switch, but JN has 2 times less GPU core count. When buying this you should be ready that you may stuck on the kernel 4.9.140 forever with no kernel security patches. If you agree with Ubuntu to install all updates to v20 it will break all the GPU drivers. And when you want to update their SDK and drivers, there is no other way yet, but to flash a new image to a microSD card again and loose all settings.

You should probably mention nvidia doesn't expect people to really use the development board; they expect you to develop your own hardware to implement it. The fact you can use it as an sbc is just a cool extra I guess, maybe targeting the maker/sbc market a bit more with a 59$ part but it's possible that the dev board may not always be available I think. There are companies who make other carrier boards for them with different features

I believe the main issue with emulation on the original Jetson Nano, was the lack of community support. It was more powerful and had a far better gpu that the Raspberry Pi, but the Pi has a huge developer community and a lot of them are dedicated to game emulation. Also, the Shield is running Android TV and there's no native Android builds for the Nano.
