Look up the Moulson Flying Car....... These people worked with the FAA to safely fly these type of aircraft.......People are going to be disappointed when they discover just how little flying they will be able to do in the MANY areas that will be heavily restricted. The basic idea with the consumer version is that you get in, fasten your seatbelt, and tap a destination on the nav screen......That's it.....You can send you kids off to school in these things....by themselves. Is that scheme just around the corner? No, probably not. But the technology is pretty much off the shelf at this point.....And, if Elon Musk is right in his predictions (and he usually is) there are battery's coming in the near future that operate with many times the energy densities presently available.

I drew a similar design sometime back in 2014-2016. I'm glad someone else thought of up-scaling the proven proof of concept of quad-copter drones, and adding the double prop feature for increased thrust and stability. I would suggest some R&D into a light weight aerodynamic prop housing system, connected to the chassis that serves as protection for the props around the edges, as well a grate that would protect the top and bottoms. It would serve to convey safety for the operator and anything or anyone around the vehicle. Great Job!

I made a similar design out of legos 20 years ago as a kid lol. The idea isn’t that unique, the execution is very much so.
@Wrublos2122 жыл бұрын
More thrust of counter rotating blades? Yes. More stability? I'm not so sure. Second propeller works with disrupted flow of upper prop causing inefficient work and vibrations. Even by the sound you can tell it's not the best solution. But it's save space, giving more thrust ( not twice as much, there is some loss with that configuration). Hexcopter would not be so compact and weight of another engine mounts, arms could overcome benefits of having engines separate. 8 engines is also nice failsafe, but helicopters and planes looks more safe as they both can glide/autorotate and land without propulsion. In here you falling like a rock. Fun project tho :) Have a nice day, guys

You should look into paramotors. They are the same concept, but actually currently have a worldwide community of flyers. Plus, they are much more affordable compared to something like this. You are even able to fly above the clouds with them. The big difference is, you need a parachute wing to help lift and glide you through the air. You can take-off and land in any open piece of land, instead of being restricted to taking-off or landing only on private air strips as shown in this video. I recommend checking out Tucker Gott's channel. He did a recent video on how to get into paramotoring.

@@chocolatezt Probably do bank and yank for high speed, you don't really use much yaw past 30 degree angles. Also since its got 8 motors, it should be pretty snappy (88kW isn't crazy performance, but it should have a good enough rotational mass that its inertia change should twist the whole airframe reasonably well). Now are you going to run 1200 degrees per second yaw rates? No it probably won't run over 3 rotations per second, but I also feel you're going to sit there vomiting as you spin and some of that vomit's going to "hit the fan" as they say splashing everyone below and probably yourself too. I think the limit is going to be when your brain gets fuzzy and you think upside down is rightside up (happens to a lot of pilots, not even stunt pilots), but if they have an auto level switch activate on a 5 second timer I'd love to fly to 5k feet altitude and just see how much I could take without passing out on one of these. Sure a centrifuge or something on the ground spinning would be safer, but I think it would be cool amusement park ride with this as the level 10 aggressive flight option at the end of flying around a park if they can automate it safely after lots of tests.

The listed flight ceiling is 1,500 feet AGL, and that may be because of current limitations (in the US) that restricts flight above a certain threshold without being an actual airplane (I don't know what the flight restrictions are, so maybe someone that does can chime in). I wonder if you could apply auto correct to the rotors if they can feedback the air pressure underneath. With cameras, when the pilot twist the control to turn left/right, we may be able to get the craft to auto level itself after the turn while maintaining the same position relative to objects around it. It's similar to how Tesla cameras determine distance and movements of other cars. This can takes a lot of training off the pilot.

Its about the same cost as a pickup truck (except electric instead of fuel, no insurance required, nor tags or traffic cameras at red lights) As for training, in most parts of the world this qualifies as an ultralight, so essentially no license requirement (kind of like a bicycle or motorized bicycles, except probably a lower death per mile rate considering how insane car drivers are wanting to kill anything on 2 wheels. By the way, in the US motorcycles have over a 33x higher death rate than cars per mile, so its not like having a license makes you "safe", no you're just as dead either way). The cost barrier on this will prevent most idiots from just hopping on, sure there are rich idiots, but when you spend that much and know you're likely to die if you're stupid, well that alone usually gets them to pay a little for training (like paramotors, those are actually quite safe but still people often buy a "package deal" which includes training from the seller because its kind of a good idea, not required but very few just shout YOLO! as they jump off a cliff with one for the first time).
