Jetta Automatic Transmission not engaging?

2000 VW Jetta TDI automatic transmission wasn't engaging "D" on the first start of the day. I added about 9/10ths of a quart of fully-synthetic ATF and it fixed the problem. Just a simple video showing the results after I added the fluid. The automatic transmissions aren't super easy to add fluid to.

Hey I had the same rpm problem with it jumping, it’s your air flow sensor!!

I have a V W jetta 2012 the problem is it leaks transmission fluid from relief valve and when that happens then the reverse gear wont engage?

i have a golf 4 automatic which become stiff on the gear soon after starting the car,it takes between 10 to 15 minutes to put it either on reverse or drive gear,i have tried topping up the transmission fluid but no improvements.

I have a 2000 vr6 auto that half the time I put in reverse, it won't go. I havt to put it in park or neutral then back into "R" and it goes right in. sometimes I even have to rev it up a bit for it to actually engage.

+Keon Cooke I would be careful with rev'ing it up to get it to go into gear. I'd check the transmission fluid and at the very least change it out for some good stuff. That rules out the easy, cheap stuff.

You have to change to valve body on a high mileage automatic

My up! Asg has issues. Some time the drive wont engage. And also happend that it dont want to change gears .

And it's not go in reverse whatsoever on cold start only once and then after you drive you won't go in reverse whatsoever
