I LOVE THIS, Julia! I always found the galley fascinating, so this was such a nice treat to get a peek at what it is and what you do in the galley. Is it always just one FA prepping in the galley before a flight? I haven’t finished the vid yet, so idk if you’ve answered this, but how long does it usually take to prep everything? I’m glad to see/hear you clean the coffee pots first-I’ve heard a lot of indecent things about it and the overall quality of the plane water!
@JettingJulia5 жыл бұрын
Van Pham hi there, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! If it’s an international flight you usually have a few people helping the galley flight attendant set up but for domestic it’s usually designated to just one person. It all depends on how well the galley is set up/organized before hand. If it’s a mess it usually takes me 25 ish minutes but if the crew before me was really organized or if it’s the first flight of the day I can usually get it done in about 15-20 minutes if I’m moving quickly. Thanks for watching! ☺️
@vanpham56095 жыл бұрын
Jetting Julia thanks so much for taking the time to reply back to me, Julia! I really appreciate it! I think prepping the galley could definitely be smth I’d enjoy doing when I become a FA. 😄 I recently applied to AA, but didn’t pass the assessment test, which was a real bummer for me, bc I felt quite good abt it. What tips, tricks, or advice would you recommend when it comes to the assessment test? Bc tbh, it was my cover letter that I was hesitant abt-did you include a cover letter when you applied? Do you think it’ll hurt me if I decided to not include it the next time around?
@JettingJulia5 жыл бұрын
@@vanpham5609 Galley prep can be so therapeutic! lol. I would say for any assessment is to be consistent with your answers. So if you say that leadership for example is important then that also needs to reflect in your other answers as well. The surveys are meant to also be taken literally, overthinking every little thing won't always help you! I can't remember if I used a cover letter or not. I think it's okay either way! Hope this helps!
@vanpham56095 жыл бұрын
Jetting Julia oh yes, that’s the word. I can totally see that! Mm, yes, I read abt the importance of being consistent when answering the questionnaire, which I made an effort to do, so I was a li’l surprised to find out I didn’t pass that portion, according to the email, but idk, I feel like it could’ve been smth else... whatever the case, it’s a learning experience, and it’s definitely made me more eager and motivated to keep trying and applying! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me, Julia. I truly appreciate and value your feedback. 💙

Hello. Is the ice that you are breaking up brought onboard by the catering company? We hear so much about the bacteria in the ice from the dirty holding tanks on the plane. But if the ice is made on the plane and the coffee is made from the water on the plane, wouldn't both have bacteria in them?
@MrFlyboy13135 жыл бұрын
May I ask at what point do you brew the coffee and fill your serving containers? Do you start brewing before takeoff or just after reaching say 10,000 feet and getting up to get ready for the service?
@JettingJulia5 жыл бұрын
MrFlyboy1313 I always brew the coffee/hot water after we reach 10,000 feet and are allowed to get out of our jump seats 🙂 I finish setting up the galley (in case I missed anything) while the coffee is brewing before service. Thanks for watching! ✈️
@MrFlyboy13135 жыл бұрын
Jetting Julia thanks for answering. I only ask because I see on other fight attendant channels the galley attendant always seems to be turning on the coffee makers and I always assumed it was for the first class passengers getting a drink before pushback and taxiing to the runway. But, now I realize they were probably just testing the coffee maker like you did during the galley setup.
@JettingJulia5 жыл бұрын
MrFlyboy1313 it could be for both! Either cleaning/testing etc, but in first class you’re correct that it could be for a pre departure beverage!

As a former F/A of 20 years I am always fascinated that so much tome is spent on these videos? Galley prep is 1/3 of the job you will be doing and gives you no insight to what your F/A career will be like. Those videos cannot be shown only experienced. To those interested in this career, meet with a F/A in person listen to what they tell you about training, base assignments, seniority, scheduling, legs, ready reserve,, duty time, benefits, and mostly pay.. seeing that it takes time to work from a B scale to A. Prepping the galley is nothing more than a position and tiny part of the job.
