Guy just handed you the best fish in the Gulf of Mexico! FWIW I’ve been fishing for pompano for decades the Docs jig is my favorite but I’ve found live shrimp cut up on the jig out catches frozen maybe 5 or 10 to one try it next time.

@@RustyReels docs goofy jig with a pink teaser on the beach early am using no bait (before bait shop opens) but if I’m fishing a bridge leave teaser off just bounce the bottom but add the shrimp to it. Also will hook some other fish I can’t think of a species I haven’t caught on the Docs. It never hurts to tip it with shrimp though. Small a piece as possible. Everybody has their own set up some guys use teaser on bridge I think it messes up the action but other guys have great success 🤷‍♂️

I got skunked there a couple weeks ago. Great weather, but diddly squat on catching. Nice pompano! Been going out to Honeymoon Island lately but other than a shark that broke me off it’s been ladyfish, hardheads, and a small whiting and minnie trout. Hope springs eternal! My wife would beat me half to death for cleaning fish in the kitchen sink!😎

we were out there just a little bit ago and unexpectedly hooked something that took our line out 50 yards and snapped our biggest hook in half, we were thinking it was a massive tarpon but it didnt feel like it, any ideas on what it was?
