KZbin really has to stop compressing the quality of my videos. This is so frustrating. Filmed in 4K, but comes out looking like a potato. If you're watching on your phone, you probably won't notice it but the computer it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I noticed at the start of your video you were reeling a little slow. Get yourself a gotcha plug and jerk and reel it in reel fast. Spanish mackerel love a really fast retrieve

Thanks for the advice! I’ll speed it up next time

Look at you getting all fancy with opening shots and title screens. Lol also interesting technique, lose 3 lures catch a fish, lose 3 lures catch a fish. Not very economical, but hey whatever works for ya. 😉😁

You need to take better care of your catch. First thing you need to do if you decide to keep a fish is to bleed it by either cutting it’s throat or ripping out the gills. Ideally you should then place it head first into a bucket of clean water to bleed out. Then you should at the very least place them in a different bucket of clean water but preferably into a ice filled cooler.

We were keeping them for shark bait so that’s why we didn’t take better care lmao

@@TheMasterCaster I can understand the small bluefish for shark bait but to waste a fish with such excellent table fare like a Spanish mackerel is a shame. I fish the other side of that inlet 3-5 times a week during the summer. When we catch a spanish, after we bleed them out we use the fillet table there and clean them right there-some of the best sushi there is.

I eat plenty of Spanish mackerel during the year to be allowed to use them for shark bait haha. They’re delicious, but both Bluefish and Spanish mackerel are great baits, and it’s always helpful to have a variety of baits on you because sharks can be surprisingly picky. I don’t consider it a waste because we caught 20 sharks up to 7’ later that night on them.

@@Skolmann I also don’t know where your AC bass pro comment went, but you’re right. The only reason I was at bass pro in AC instead of the local manasquan shops is because I was shark fishing down there later that day, so I figured I may as well go there. Otherwise I would have definitely gone local.
