It was a product of its time though, right? If it was ahead of its time, wouldn't it have anticipated lo-fi emo that came a few years later or the London punk rock meets Britpop sound?

It wasn’t really ahead of its time. It was the same thing that so many other artists were making at the time (Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Shakira, Britney, etc.)

This was hot! I’m reading Jewel’s book: Never Broken. Excellent. She’s incredibly brave, strong, extremely intelligent and perhaps, a genius who’s very modest along with being an exceptional singer/ songwriter. This live performance is very cool.

I’m one of the fans who didn’t like the pop direction that Jewel took in 0304. I didn’t buy the album (this was when people still bought albums). Thankfully, she returned to her folk roots in her next album, Goodbye Alice In Wonderland. I bought GAIW as well as her next album after that, Perfectly Clear. Unfortunately, it seems that many of Jewel’s old fans didn’t forgive her for 0304 and didn’t buy the albums.
