Thank you for the great video! Are the videos in your courses as well done as this....camera angles, close ups etc? If so, then I am seriously considering your courses. Could you please clarify something for me--when using a setting burr, it cuts a straight "wall," correct? Then, you come in with a hart burr and how does that make the seat flatter or better? Does the hart burr flatten the seat? TY!!
@jewellerytrainingsolutions99783 жыл бұрын
Thanks Linda. You can pressure fit the stone either using a setting bur or a round bur, but they must be the perfect size. The hart bur is more versatile, it cuts a groove for the stone girdle to click into. So in some cases I will combine all three burs. It really is a matter of 'what works best for you' I make a point of demonstrating lots of options

Hi Peter I enjoyed the lesson. I just wonder, by wiggling the graver, don't you leave ugly traces on the bright cut? Wouldn't it be nicer to push the graver straight forward until lifting it up? Otherwise, thanks for all your informative lessons and work you put into this. Greetings from Austria, Joe
@jewellerytrainingsolutions99785 жыл бұрын
Josef Eidler yes Joe avoiding the wiggle and pushing with strength or air assist graver would be tidier for sure, but it can be tough, so I would normally tidy up the facets with a flat graver. I show this during the bright cutting course. Thanks for watching

Why did you not cut the stars first before putting the stone in your the first person I have seen do this way what is wrong especially when doing a eight pointed star cut the star first then put stones in and secure it , there’s no way to get a good clean job cutting with the stone in .
@t0rb1naalborg445 жыл бұрын
I disagree. The grain lifting must be done with the stone in the seat, never seen it done with a hand graver any other way. Another technique is to remove material around the seat, leaving metal for the grains as short stubs/islands. The stones are then pressed into the seats and the stubs formed into grains pressed down onto the stones. This is done with burs and/or graver machines, air or electrical assisted. Used in pave or micro pave where the stones almost touches each-other.
@jewellerytrainingsolutions99785 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right John. But this is the first lesson for beginners. I have been teaching for many years and I have found that it works best to take students through the process step by step. The full course has 20 videos showing all the stages. This link will show you what I mean. jewellery-training-solutions.thinkific.com/courses/bright-cutting-student-pack
@johndaniels38895 жыл бұрын
T0rb1 NAalborg I am not mean lift the grain when the stone is not in the hole , all the cutting is done before the stone goes in the hole that way you can move the grain in pre cut form it will move onto the stone a hell of lot easier, take a look at JURA diamond setting on KZbin he is one of the best setters in the world, teaching a student to raise and cut from that far back is going to end in tears and possible harm to themselves when the scorper snaps .
@johndaniels38895 жыл бұрын
Jewellery Training Solutions I have always thought students to raise there first grains with a half round as it will not chip as easily, raising grains that far back is quite advanced, and can I ask do you cut your eight pointed star with the stone in the hole ?
@jewellerytrainingsolutions99785 жыл бұрын
