There's also gold-filled jewelry, which has 100x more gold alloy and stands up to wear and tear well. Sometimes it says 1/20 14KGF for example or however much goldfilled level it has in it. It's better than plated but costs more too.

4 categories: 1) fine jewelry a)*SOLID GOLD a)PLATINUM (don't ever tarnish or change color & really expensive) 2) semi/semi fine jewelry a)*VERMEIL(a really thick layer of yellow/rose/platinum over solid 925 sterling silver) b)RHODIUM OR a thick layer of WHITE GOLD over 925 sterling silver c) plain 925 STERLING SILVER ( will oxidize(not tarnish) and need to be cleaned often because it is silver underneath and silver oxidized, most of the times not that expensive but can sometimes be just as expensive if not more than fine jewelry ,all depends on the brand or if stones is used can sometime be also considered as fine jewelry, takes years(decades) for gold to fade because gold layer is thick) 3) played jewelry (a thin later of gold with either brass, copper, alloy stainless steel or other metals underneath (not that expensive but still too expensive for what it is, tarnish kinda fast can't get wet often) 4) custom/fashion jewelry (not recommended if you have sensitive skin or allergies to certain metals, no gold present at all(only made to look like gold) most of the time are super cheap unless bought from chanel, dior ,gucci, hermes and most of these high end designers (yes the they have a fine and demi/semi fine jewelry range, buy these instead) custom/ jewelry are worthless.

You have a very beautiful collection. I like the look of Indonesian gold . It’s not too orange or too yellow . I found an Indonesian store on IG but they don’t ship to the USA. They had such unique pieces not available in the USA.

i know it's about priorities, but i see no point in gold-plated jewelry. it is just future trash--eventually it will become worthless. i only buy solid gold, because i'll have it forever or can sell it for a good price if i change my mind about it later.
